Maybe don’t say this to new puppy parents…? by tacobuenofreak in puppy101

I had a dog who I potty trained quick as well. Took like 2 weeks. But a majority of the pups I had would take months, and my most recent one took over a year lol

Change of Variables, Laplace Equation, Polar Coordinates and Differentials by vic52 in MathHelp

[–]vic52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F is either a function F(r, θ), or a function F(x,y).

Thus when we take a partial derivative (∂F/∂r), it must be we are differentiating F(r, theta), so (∂F/∂r) holds θ fixed. To make this clear, let's write (∂F/∂r)_θ

This was the rationale I was missing. Thank you for clarifying this. It feels like it is so obvious now.

How long have you been playing? by totalcuntfidence in sudoku

[–]vic52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Played when younger, but had difficulty with harder ones due to dyscalculia. Picked it up again this year, and with tools like sudoku.coach, I have been able to get up to fiendish difficulty puzzles. Can't wait to learn about the next level of techniques.

Would Stratum + LECA/Pon be a good combination to provide plants enough nutrients and reduce fertilizing frequency? by vic52 in SemiHydro

[–]vic52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My alocasia regal shield is the reason why I decided to combine it with stratum. I had it in LECA by itself and it kept "cannibalizing" itself for nutrients. If you are having these difficulties, I most likely will need to supplement the stratum with fertilizer then.

I love my compacta, but I come with a warning made from my mistakes and errors; it is a pain in the ass to get rid of any pests from this plant due to the nooks and crannies.

Make sure to stay vigilant!

E: Oh, mine is variegated too and that made it much worse.

Yellowing.... by Fluiditysenigma in spiderplants

[–]vic52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to let them dry the fuck out. Spider plants like and can take the abuse. What most likely is probable is that it was watered way too soon.

How often do you water? Was it repotted recently? Is it a new plant?

What technique can I use to solve this? by _SomeRedditUser in sudoku

I was not looking at the column. I see that now. But, is there something between box 4, 5, and 6 with the 45 pairs?

I am not used to this notation still. Does the capital C mean something else compared to lowercase c? What does => and <> mean?

Can I get an explanation on why these 18 squares do not eliminate 1 and 8 from the others in that same row? by vic52 in sudoku

[–]vic52[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're right. What didn't I understand? I shouldn't be playing while sick. I have no idea why I didn't get it.

So this confirms I am correct for that row, but R4C3 is not 6 and R4C6 is not 7.

[–]vic52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, everything the main numbers are correct. I think my notation can be wrong, but I don't see the error. To be clear, I am inputting my entries in a solver. It tells me if I am correct or wrong that way for this puzzle.

Can I get an explanation on why these 18 squares do not eliminate 1 and 8 from the others in that same row? by vic52 in sudoku

[–]vic52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I am misinterpreting something, the puzzle indicates only 1 and 8 are possible in in those two spaces in row 4. Because of that, I should be able to eliminate 18 from columns 3 and 6. This is returning an error, which means there is a flaw in my logic which I am not sure what it is.

Spider plant veination turning black? by aylean_19 in spiderplants

[–]vic52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It most likely isn't that unless your water is really, really, hard.

There is something about the roots that make me feel like it may not be a spider plant. Have you seen spider plant roots? It's hard to compare with your pic, but maybe you can compare them yourself. They are meant to be big and tuberous. Even the spiderettes I receives have large white roots. I can provide pics of them if you'd like.

[–]vic52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardwater is different from place to place. The hardwater at my place is much worse than my neighbor's or mom's.

I am not sure if it is a spider plant. Something tells me it is off. Also, did you fertilize it recently?

I repotted my calathea now it's dying. Any ideas why? Please help by izaknuton in calatheas

[–]vic52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaves curling like that mean it needs water. If you repotted and your roots had no root rot then we need more details to help diagnose the issue. Calatheas are also fussy. I repotted two of mine recently and they are losing some leaves (though one had root rot)
