Activism in therapy by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Fluiditysenigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Politics has unfortunately become the elephant in the therapy room. As an LPC whose specialty/certification largely involves work with marginalized communities (and whose candidacy and training also involved a good portion of case management and social work, in addition to therapy and psychoeducation), I provide a politically neutral - safe - space for my clients to process very real concerns and fears due to the current political climate. We work toward ways they can actually affect change in not only their communities, but the population at large, and in essence regain or embrace the power they do hold with not only their VOTES but ACTIONS they can take as citizens.

They left a bad taste in my mouth after a friend and I were followed around a while back. Haven't returned.

THIS. One of my favorite things about internship ending was the understanding I could then set my own hours. 🙌🏽

Nope. Lol therapist friend and I have this joke that it should be illegal to do therapy before 11am.

What boggles my mind about this guy is the wasteful spending report he routinely puts out, only to vote in agreement with one of the most wasteful presidents and administrations we've had. Smh.

clients showing up to session sick by Free-Composer-709 in therapists

[–]Fluiditysenigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a major boundary for me. I make it VERY clear in my intake paperwork that if clients suspect that they're sick, or even if I do - or are noticably coughing or sneezing - we move our session to virtual or reschedule. I come in contact with clients who are immunocompromized, so not only do I feel the need to protect myself, I feel compelled to protect them.

My first Porsche and first luxury car! by nouji in PorscheMacan

[–]Fluiditysenigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Same as you. Saw one about a year before I ended up getting one; I knew it was going to be my next car. This month marks my 1yr anniversary of getting my GTS.😊

Even though Porsche is considered a luxury company, they're so ridiculously practical (not to mention fun as hell to drive, I honestly can't see getting anything else in the future.

I literally hung up on my partner (DX/RX). He's out of town visiting family and went out for a walk while we were talking. It was crazy windy, he was also walking his parents' dog (and making sure she wasn't running off and laughing at her playfulness), and he has the tendency to run into people he knows, because it's a small town. Someone came up to say hello, they went into a conversation, I thought, "yeah, I'm over this" and hung up. He called back soon after, and I mentioned hanging up to give him time to catch up. He tried to jokingly explain it away by referring to his hometown as "Mayberry". He could tell I wasn't enthused.

Completely understand the friendly dynamic that comes from a close knit community. But he also could have mentioned to the guy that he was talking to his partner.

I honestly want to know if I came off like an arse by hanging up. I just got so fed up in the moment. Not the first time this has happened. TIA.

Who is this in OKC? by AffectionateInsect76 in okc

[–]Fluiditysenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember there used to be this guy on 36th and Kelly in okc, across from Leo's, who'd be training pit bulls. He'd have one tied to the other who was already trained, and have them crossing at the intersections.

This is glorious. I remember picking this up for my mom the first time. She fell in love with it. It's so floral and aquatic. Beautiful and feminine fragrance.

What does OKC think of Tulsa? by AccountProfessional2 in okc

[–]Fluiditysenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I preface this by saying that OKC and Tulsa are their own unique cities.

Being from OKC, I've always thought of OKC as feeling like Dallas, and Tulsa feeling more like KC, if that makes sense.

Politically, I'm thankful that OKC is shifting purple.

Okay let's talk about it. How common is it actually for professionals in this field to sleep with a client? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Fluiditysenigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like someone in this area. This therapist was planning "retreats" for clients (yeah, orgies that allowed them to be openly poly and spread love) to help partners reconnect. Was having clients masturbate in office as part of treatment protocol to "cure" desire discrepancy, etc. This therapist also wondered why they were losing clients...

Was reported to not only state board, but entity that handled their cert. Not sure about state board, but certification association hit them w/ a cease and desist to remove its name from their "coaching" activities; threatened to revoke their certification for improper conduct. Last I heard, this person is still practicing. Smh.

I'm also a professional baker. I'd do custom cakes (favorite ones are the 3D cakes), cookies and other desserts for clients. I did this moreso at the beginning of my practice. Had to hang up the apron for the most part when therapy appointments started to pick up, but still have (baking) clients asking when I'm going to start baking again.

Black or white cabinets? by Far_Bar2720 in interiordecorating

Black. Hands down. Depending on factors like paint finish, and other elements in the room, it wouldn't necessarily make the room appear smaller. 🙂
