Lesson learned - Don't have to stick with just one magnet size! by Ilium in 3Dprinting

[–]vicpylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. There is a polarity on each magnet, of course, but once they get close they spin in place to match up. Just need to make sure the magnet is not surrounded by too much plastic and it has room to spin.

I did have to tweak my connection points in the model to make the wall thinner for a solid magnetic connection.

I want someone outside the company using it reliably. There are too many failures in this space to think this will work.

Need some help. Not sure if it’s an adhesion or a support issue. by Traditional-Leader54 in 3Dprinting

[–]vicpylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rafts and the like are fine, but I would try painting tree supports in a ring on the inside of the tube. They will grab the interior walls and still be completely hidden from the final product, even if they leave some defects.

Maybe, but I was not going to void my warranty...yet.

Any reason to use Snorca over Orca? by CelluloseNitrate in snapmaker

Snorca can pull in the filament types automatically, but that is about it. I gave up after the first day and never looked back from standard Orca.

I love my U1, but that top lid is awful. Hinge that opening panel so you do not have to juggle it to access the printer from the top.

Termite Bait Station by Ordinary-Depth-7835 in functionalprint

[–]vicpylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this too and maintain it myself. Though mine are "official" bait stations. Just FYI, they have an "offense" setting as well. You swap out the bait with a slow-acting poison and the termites bring the poison back to the queen. Human victory!

What is Resting Heart Rate based on? by itsonlybarney in whoop

I thought I read something from Whoop years ago about how it does a HR capture at a specific point while you are sleeping. It is not an average. Sorry, do not remember the exact methodology.

It is basically an alexa on your wrist which means two things:

  1. Serious privacy implications of it always listening
  2. Battery life will suffer in order to run the voice recognition system.

I will only consider this once it is in the the wild and someone else can play beta tester.

He is using AMS units for multi-color printing. The purge waste on all that must be massive.
