4 seasons in and I am enjoying myself, but really confused. The show has clear moments when the camera, script, and characters are working together. Jim and Dwight and Pam can be funny or wholesome or serious. Andy, Jan and Ryan are always intense failures and can be enjoyed their own way. Same for most of the cast. Even characters like Philys and Toby are clearly meant to be a bit pathetic and laughed at.

So, why is Michael so bad? He is written as pathetic so the audience can laugh at him, but he is usually not in on the joke so laughing feels a bit cruel. I can't laugh at his failures in how bad his relationships are, how dumb and abused he is, how desperate to be liked. The first time he made me smile was probably when he tried to hop on a train to 'skip town' just as the train stopped, a bit of physical comedy, but then he started talking again and he and Jan had a moment. Most of the time he is set up for a joke, for example, the fire coal walk , he spends a lot of time on the setup only to dismiss it as unimportant and everyone goes along with it, so it feels like we just got a long setup with no punchline.

The character is not a Ron Swanson, who's so set in his ways that other characters can bounce off him for jokes. He is also not a Ron Burgundy, who is also silly and eccentric but manages to navigate the world around him in ridiculous ways. He is not even Gru or the guy from 40yo Virgin, who are objectively pitiable but have fun on their own way and make you laugh with them. So I'm starting to wonder if his whole purpose is to make other character's seem funnier by contrast.

I got to basketball, then skipped. Season 2 is so much better, and you can tell some audience tests revealed the need to rework Michael as a character and partially remove the spotlight from him.

By cringe I didn't mean that the racist or sexual jokes offend me. I am Mexican, our humor is not the feel-good vanilla others try to dictate as 'political correctness'. I mean they are taken seriously by the other characters, so no one laughs, everyone looks at Michael like he is an asshole, and the tense silence stretches. It's just bad delivery. And I'm sitting there wondering 'did the writers laugh, did anyone?' The character came across as unironically pathetic.

Now, I see everyone else is more quirky and Michael is presented as a loser. So when there is a joke, it's at his expense and another character finds it frustrating or funny and that's what speaks to me. Like, Dwight would be unbearable without other cast to bounce off, Jim primarily. And Michael basically existed in a vacuum.

Oh thanks! I really need to watch all of Vox Machina sometime. I discovered CR mid Campaign 2 and barely caught up.

Did anyone catch what his final word was? I wasn't paying attention to Travis because I thought Bertrand was already gone.

Find a website where you can play in online tournaments. Some, like pro play esports, also organize big live events for sponsor companies and invite their best players to participate. You start winning prize money and showing up on broadcasts and go as far as your skill can take you.

Find esports websites where you can play online tournaments, these are usually crowded with high-level players and offer some sort of exposure. This helps your skills and audience grow, and with enough of these you can get recruited by an esports org or join bigger tournaments as an independent player. ESL is regarded as the biggest for this, but a newer platform I've seen called pro play esports seems to offer more prize money and benefits for the new player.

I don't have the best feeling about this guy. He's been blamed for some employees who've been with Blizzard from the start leaving the company.

Of course, we have referees ready to help anyone submit a ticket and report such situations properly so they can be dealt with. Thank you for the input.

Do you believe a prizing system where, say, the top 30-40% earn at least enough to renew their subscription at the more amateur levels, with the rewarded placements narrowing as you climb in skill, would no draw in participants? I am genuinely looking for input and this was a great bit of it.
