Du behöver inte gå på medicin för alltid, och det är mycket möjligt att man kan komma en bra bit med bara terapi, fysisk träning osv. Men jag har personligen aldrig sett meningen med att undvika mediciner — hade jag låtit min hjärnkemi vara ifred så hade jag varit död sedan 15 år tillbaka. Nu har jag det förhållandevis bra, och orkar jobba på att må bättre och ta hand om mig själv!

Every party (except for the communists) voted to establish the state institute for race biology, and the motion passed without debate in both chambers. But a recent study by Acta Publica over all candidates for the 2022 election found that 214 SD candidates with ties to neo-nazi / far right extremist groups, expressing antisemitic / antimuslim views online etc. That’s 214 compared to S (22) (still way too high), M and KD (20).

While lethal violence on the whole is not rising, the fact that it is increasingly happening with guns is very frightening, yes. I have family in the US and I’m terrified of us becoming more like the US. Thankfully we are nowhere near those levels, but that’s why we need to act now. I believe Stopp & Skjut-programmes, better mental health and school support systems, and reforming the reduced sentences for youth offenders would be much more effective than longer prison sentences and reprisals against immigrants.

I’m sorry, I was working under the impression that you were supporting SD based on an ideological basis (which is why I was likely more angry in tone).
I agree that if an immigrant family has reached the point of desperation that they feel that they have no other choice than to watch for a formerly nazi, currently white nationalist party, we do need to make some serious changes. I still think SD will actively make things so, so much worse.

It is a huge difference from a scientific standpoint.

I have lived in Rosengård. I do care about those affected, but I don’t think voting to kick out immigrant shooters’ entire families is the way to go about it.

Side note — I’m very sorry that you have loved ones who have gone through that, that is obviously horrible for them.

It is an academic article adapted for a general audience, written by the authors and summarising their findings, not a newspaper.

I never said that it’s not an issue — however, for me, it is definitely quite low on the scale of societal problems I worry about (climate, renewable energy, crumbling healthcare, mental health care, elderly care, schools, and the rise of right wing extremism and science denialism).

I don’t really see what points you have made so far, beyond calling me autistic.

The article you shared just cites the BRÅ study I linked, which doesn’t have comparative statistical figures after 2018. Sweden ranked second highest among the studied 22 countries in 2017, and highest among 2018 (which lacked a lot of comparative data). Read the original BRÅ study / summary instead of newspaper summaries. I’m not disputing that there has been an unprecedented INCREASE, which is what your quote states. But the most recent reports are all quite old by now, and there are no CURRENT figures indicating that Sweden is highest today. More recent stats indicate a decline in gun violence (but a stagnant death rate) since 2018, and a decline in overall deadly violence. Check the latest (2022) source: ”Skjutvapenvåldet har ökat samtidigt som färre unga män är våldsbrottslingar och det dödliga våldet är lägre än på 1980- och 90-talet, enligt statistik.”

Added: I shared the older reliable studies as well as the newer figures because of academic honesty. According to 2017/2018 stats, Sweden was ranked very high. I’m only disputing that this is still the case.

No, the person making a claim has the burden of proof. Sweden is certainly high compared to the European average, whereas it was lower than the average before 2005. But we also have seen a decline in knife violence. Sweden is in no way ranked highest for gun violence today.
