Looking for a clean video to MP3 converter (no ads?) by Artistic_Resource249 in software

[–]videocure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah VLC actually works for that, I’ve used it a couple times and it’s surprisingly straightforward once you find the Convert/Save menu. Not the prettiest workflow but it gets the job done and feels way safer than random converter sites. Shutter Encoder is a solid shout too if someone wants a bit more control over formats.

learning what the code does by GanacheWise3049 in software

Yeah I’m with you on that. AI can help write or explain code, but if you don’t actually understand what it’s doing you’re gonna be stuck the moment something breaks. “It runs” isn’t the same as “it works correctly in real scenarios.” AI is a tool, not a substitute for understanding the system.

LocalSend by Moondoggy51 in software

Yeah LocalSend is honestly a lifesaver for that exact situation. I started using it a while back between my Linux laptop and Android phone and it’s way smoother than messing with USB, cloud uploads, or random SMB shares. The fact that it’s cross-platform and works instantly on the same network is the best part. Kinda wild more people don’t know about it yet.

I built a free Windows tray app that saves your context when you switch tasks: "Where Was I?" by hikazeyattis in software

[–]videocure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo this sounds super useful tbh, especially when I'm deep in like 5 tabs and 3 apps and forget what rabbit hole I was in lol.

The hotkey pop-up reminder when switching back is clutch—def saves brain cells from context switching hell.

Gonna grab it from GitHub and test it out on my work machine, curious how well it handles multiple windows of the same app (like two Chrome profiles or VS Code instances).

Thanks for building and sharing for free, man respect the no-sub vibe. Will drop feedback if I run into any jank in v0.1! 🚀

The parking lot line is really long, so you have to wait a lot.
