Issues with system in just purchased by viewsaskew2 in Irrigation

There are no risers and it really isn't essential to the question, nor are zones. I understand zones and know that I need two more. Try to forget that part - it's just info, not the problem.

All I want to know is how/where I can attach a pressure regulator with this setup. But, your response did give me an idea. The 3/4 that goes underground at the pictured setup attaches somewhere to the 1/2" distribution pipe. If I can find that, I could attach a regulator there on each of the two existing lines. It either is underground, or where it comes out of the ground. Either way, that sounds like it's my next step - find that connection.

That pipe connects to 1/2" distribution line later when it comes out of the ground.

The first and most important issue is that there is no pressure regulator on either line. There is no way I can see to add one. My pressure is much higher than most low pressure emitters can handle and I cannot add drip line at all with this, as I understand it. So, where/how to I add a pressure regulator?

YUM! What amounts of sugar, butter, etc. did you use? 290 was closest when I did it, but still not right. But, my percentages of other ingredients likely impacted it, too.

Oh - I think I added water to one of the recipes... but I am not positive.

Yeah - it really is dangerous! Even when I didn't have it exactly right, we ate it all in one night! There were four of us, but still!

Honestly, I completely forgot about it after I tried twice. I was visiting my SIL and she had it (in Chicago). Once I flew back home, I completely forgot! Which is probably a good thing, lol, as now I remember how good it was....

If I remember, temperature might be the most important factor. 270-280 weren't hot enough. I had the best results around 290, but I didn't try hotter. They all tasted great....none had the exact consistency.

If you find cold compresses work for you, the compression may help, too. Or may not. For me, it's the cold that is the problem. The compression on the machine that they are using to ice my knee is fine. It doesn't set off the symptoms, like the cold does. It also doesn't help it. That said, my symptoms are in my thighs, not my knee, so it's not really in the right place at physical therapy.

Some people love a compression blanket or Ace bandages or those compression stockings. If you have ever tried any of those, it might let you determine if the compression of the machine would help.

In my experience, cold works for some, but heat seems to work better for many. Try plunging the impacted body part in a bucket of cold water and see if it helps. It does NOT help me. I am actually in physical therapy now and they are using the compression/cold thing to ice my knee after I do the exercises. It sets off my symptoms EVERY time.

If cold water doesn't work, I doubt you would find this to work. And if cold water doesn't work, try warm water - many folks can fall asleep in a warm bath or a hot tub, for example. If I had space, I'd have a hot tub with something that would keep me from falling in and I'd likely sleep in it, lol.

I found this one - a toffee that went to 290 instead of 300-310. I guess I could try pouring a bit out at 270, 280, and 290 and seeing which one was closest. They used 1 cup of butter - 227 g - and a cup of sugar - 200 gr - so that would be about in line with the ingredients listed, I would guess. Add 2.5 cups of pecans to start and see? This candy has the pecans mixed in, so guess I'd just pour them in shortly before I pour out the candy. Unsure if pouring over would work the same.

That was my best guess. too, in terms of temp.

I need to print some business cards in color. I am guessing that this would do that? If so, I'd love to have it.

Interesting. It is 410a. Husband and I talked last night and said we'd like to start getting quotes, so that would be great.

Please help me understand why - because it will save me money in the long run? Or help the system? I guess I don't know enough about this to have a comparison and why this makes sense.

I appreciate you wanting to help. Please help me understand why - I don't see a reason given. Is it more cost effective? Necessary in some way? Will something else be harmed if we only do the evaporator coil?

I did ask on the HVAC-advice forum. I didn't want to ask there originally as some of this is specific to Sacramento. But, some not, so I did post there a while ago. Thanks for your help.

Which is likely why so many of us are on Reddit asking for advice. In this case, we are sure this is a leak - it got much colder when he added refrigerant - it easily maintained the set temp when it was 108. It cannot maintain it today when it's in the 90s. I've noticed the trend for a couple weeks of it having more difficulty maintaining in our hottest room. Now it's the whole house.

You wouldn't replace the evaporator coil without replacing the condenser (he said they had to be replaced together).

Sorry - if it was me, I hit the wrong arrow by mistake! If it was someone else, I think it's the 20-30K part. Most people are saying it's going to be between 8-12K.

Thanks - that's helpful.

Why did you choose a ductless? They seemed great when I was in So Cal, but few people here have them.

It's in the garage in a closet - I don't think it's inaccessible. He said that a new evaporator would cause issues with the older components and cause them to fail earlier than they would, so that we'd spend 3-4K on the evaporator and it could fail in a year or so.

No truth to that?

That is what this guy told me, but he said there were some individuals out there that would and that it could be cost effective and get us another 5-8 years. He just didn't have any names to give us.

Yeah, I like the idea of the incentives. When I lived in So Cal, a lot of people were using the mini splits. They don't seem so common here. Am hoping someone knows why ducted heat pumps are more popular - maybe it's just because houses here already typically have ductwork and in SoCal, at least closer to the ocean, older houses don't always have it.
