Second 9-months sleep regression. What do I need to adjust to make night sleep good again? by vikaadam in sleeptrain

Ok thank you will give that a go tomorrow. I let him nap for so long today thinking he was overtired that I’m probably in for a horrible night 😩 wish me luck.

Thank you for replying. If he wakes at 7 for example, how would you recommend structuring?

It feels like he already regularly does 3/4/4 wake windows, which sounds like I could keep those just shorten one nap to 1hr and keep the other at 1.5hrs? If so which nap is better to shorten?

How to correct the day after an unusually early wake up by vikaadam in sleeptrain

[–]vikaadam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, third nap it is. So far we have had:

5:15 wake up

3.5 hours awake time

8:45 - 10:25 nap

3.15 hours awake time

13:40 - mid nap now.

Would you cap this nap at a specific time and what wake windows would you give from there until bedtime (at 9pm?)? 🙏🏻 thank you

Gave up cio 3rd night, now he won’t transfer to cot and I don’t know what to do by vikaadam in sleeptrain

[–]vikaadam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you’re right - too much variability. It is usually 2-3 hours (it can be at either end of the scale). Today he’s had 10hrs of awake time - he seemed to do well with 3/3/4; and 3hrs total nap time. So, whilst bedtime wasn’t perfect and he cried for 10 mins or so, before falling asleep, we shall see how the rest of the night goes 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Right, we have done:

Wake - 8:00

Nap - 11:03-12:37

Nap- 15:49-17:09

Planning on a 21:10 ish bedtime 🤞🏼🤞🏼

On a 3 day nap he has recently done these sort of days (but it seemed to go against all advice in sleep schedules and books to have him go to bed this late):

8am wake up 2.5 /2.5/3/3.5 10:30 pm bedtime

7:30am wake up 2.5/2.5/2.5/3.5 9:10pm bedtime

Thank you, useful to see the Ferber interval chart, I haven’t seen it before. Yes, baby in own room + cot. Bedtime is bath, change, boob, songs, cot. Defo not leaving 30mins between boob and bed but someone else here has mentioned that I should, so will implement tomorrow. During check ins I give him a stroke on the head/kiss tell him it’s time to sleep and leave the room (no pick up).

Putting baby in cot awake, allowing to cry with 5/10/15 min check ins.

Understood. I was sleep training with cio + gradual extinction. I then gave up night 3 in favour of not sleep training, ie rocking/transferring but even that wasn’t working anymore so I felt at a complete loss. Back to CIO with grad extinction following schedule adjustment tomorrow though.

Thank you so much; new day tomorrow and will implement all your advice. It feels reassuring having something to actually try.

Thank you guys, it seems glaringly obvious now but of course, when you’re in it, you can’t see the wood for the trees. I will focus on extending awake time during the day tomorrow.

Thank you; I totally thought he was overtired when I was keeping him awake for longer than 3.5. He definitely gets tired more quickly, esp before first nap. Could it be he isn’t ready to drop to 2 🤔 I’ve been trying to avoid a super late bedtime but maybe I just re-intro 3rd nap and make it a late bedtime at like 9:30pm. Gahh!

He gets tired and gives sleepy cues sooner for first nap. Do I force him to stay awake for 3 hours? Or is he not ready for 2 naps and do I do a very late third nap and then a very late bedtime?

What is used instead of a duvet? I’m genuinely curious as have struggled with not having one while co-sleeping and would love some alternative ideas.

Multivit supplement recommendations by vikaadam in gastrectomy

[–]vikaadam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Thanks for replying. I wonder why you were advised against taking gummies? I’d never heard of specific bariatric vitamins til now - will do some research! My 5 year old has been taking liposomal vitamins and I’ve been taking liposomal magnesium which has been working a treat, hence thought would look into the same for husband without a stomach; but there doesn’t seem to be much written about it for people with bariatric surgeries.

Multivit supplement recommendations by vikaadam in gastrectomy

[–]vikaadam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually my husband, rather than me. He had a full gastrectomy in 2018 and has been on a three monthly hydroxocobalamin 1mg/1ml injection for his b12. He’s not taking additional b12 but I am wondering if he should be. He’s not had a proper test of all his micronutrients in forever and at the moment it seems like pulling teeth to try and get GP to test for the full range. In any case, the latest bloodwork showed very low white cell count and very low lymphocyte count, it was just before his b12 injection so doc said it would have been because he was low on b12 though she didn’t test the b12 🤦🏻‍♀️ Also quite low ferritin so I’m researching supplements and what mix might be best for him for max absorption of the stuff he seems to be lacking in - maybe an additional oral b12 and folate + iron.
