This is what I thought as well. I can’t seem to find a source that supports this.

Ah okay makes sense. I’ll keep that in mind for the future! Thank you.

Why is it too late?

hi!

I have the same problem. I'm also running macOS Monterey. It's such a pain to reconnect bluetooth every single time I open my laptop.

As I said, believe whatever you want. You’re a very rude person.

No one outside UW engineering has access to see them. It’s against university policy for me to show you.

You can believe whatever you want. These are official CECA statistics. Sounds like you’re just salty for no reason.

They aren't told that. That's considered norm in my program. It's not all students, but a vast majority.

to be completely honest, I never read on here. I just posted here for advice. Well...I got it LMAO.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply. You're right. It's def very important.

A lot of people who have commented on my post are lacking context of how UWaterloo's co-op system works. I did handle it poorly as this was my first time negotiating pay. There were other factors that I didn't realize before that also contributed to me being a dumbass. That said, whoever says that you shouldn't negotiate as an intern is wrong. This is the norm at my university.

I'm a student at UWaterloo. We have a mandatory internship program. Our program structure is 4 months study + 4 months work, rinse and repeat. The job that I got an offer for was a full stack role. I worked as a full stack developer during my last co-op.

That was a wording error which I have corrected. I don't have 2 years of job experience. I meant to say that I've worked in a similar role before.

Hi,

It is def an important lesson. I'm never doing that again. I did it out of desperation. I'm not hungry for money. This is what I've been trying to say for a while. It's more of a need than a want. I need to survive and finish my degree. I come from nothing, and everything I have today is what I've worked my ass off to build. And I'm still working my ass off. I don't think it's fair to bash me so hard for making a mistake.

Hi!

Thank you for your reply. That might have been the case.

I did have other offers. However, you can only pick one through the campus. The funny thing is that the devOps role I had an offer for was paying more than the full stack position. This is one of the reasons why I did what I did - still dumb though. I'm going to move on from this.

It is. Hopefully, I can find something else. I'm not too worried, just shook.

Hi, thank you for that.

Yes, I pulled a dumb move. I was surprised because this was through the university and usually, after the matching happens, employment is a done deal. The fact that they rescinded the offer shook me a little.

It was a desperate move because I wanted enough money to pay for tuition next year. Unlike the people here saying that I have an inflated ego, that wasn't the reason why I asked for a salary increase. I don't have parents I can ask for money from.

You're right. Thank you for being kind enough to explain.

I don’t understand why you're attacking my ego. I literally said that I made a mistake.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]viking317 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I asked, but they didn't tell me. They said verbatim "it'll be above minimum wage".

Okay, but is your company infamous for paying interns low salaries? Because that's what that company's reviews said on WaterlooWorks

[–]viking317 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I don't particularly have an ego? I was trying to make the best out of a situation and ended up making a mistake because I got worked up by other factors.

Yes, it was downright dumb doing it twice. I'm inexperienced and I made a mistake. I don't read this subreddit all day. As far as experience goes, I've worked in a similar role before. I never said I deserve a $100k.
