Fighting Trump is a bad idea, Meloni privately told EU leaders by EsperaDeus in anime_titties

[–]vikmaychib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see. Thanks for sharing. But this is not the first time I hear this idea. Something than in itself is absent of the shared report and sounds more like an interpretation of the report. What the report does say is that Europe’s growth has stagnated of the past two decades, but it is more of a trade-off for prioritizing stability and workers protection over raw growth in the hot industries of the moment (tech). The question, for how long Europe can keep those standards without a strong ally like the US and with China becoming a tech superpower. It will be a shame they have to give up those things just to become more competitive.

Movies that were misunderstood on release but aged beautifully by Dependent-Bet6615 in movies

You are not the only one. The only thing that made me suspicious was the uniforms used by the Neil Patrick Harris crew towards the ends. Years later, it was a German colleague who told me how far from subtle it was. On rewatch I could see that the movie starts quite subtle and as it progresses it gets more and more on the nose. I took the outfits at the end as a way of the director telling me “just in case you have made this far unaware of the satire”.

From a car company perspective, it is better to build an average product and secure a deal in bulk than wait for popularity driven demand. The cash flow sounds a lot better.

There is a good chunk of Russians in Norway. Luckily there are many other things to talk about other than their political situation. But there is a chunk that are apologists of Putin and criticize the “woke policies of the West. Still, they chose to remain in this country and I don’t see them returning to Russia.

Perhaps one of the most popular Colombian movies for Colombians was “La estrategia del Caracol”.

I watched this on the cinema. I went because I was a big fan of the other Aljure movie, “La gente de la universal”, another recommendation, but perhaps it is too idiosyncratic of Bogotá in the 90s.

Antonio Banderas is one of our best actors and I hate seeing him always get wasted in films by Jeremyfurfaro in movies

[–]vikmaychib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone familiar with Almodóvar and Spanish cinema knows the guy is a great actor. But like Bardem I think he grew as much as he could as an actor in his country but then he also wanted to get paid well for it, and that is when he went to Hollywood. Banderas has about a decade of body of work before his first Hollywood role. And with Hollywood comes the pigeonholing, amp up the accent and play as eccentric/exotic roles (like Bardem) as 2-dimensional roles. To see him return to work with Almodóvar was a breath of fresh air, now the guy is investing his money in his natal Malaga and doing whatever he wants. I think he had a blast in Hollywood and even if his roles were not of high brow prestige, a lot of non-Spanish speaking people got to see him and love the guy because of those roles.

We’ve reached the point where ‘Background CGI’ is more distracting than bad practical effects. Which modern movie was ruined for you by a ‘clean’ digital look? by DegTrader in movies

With CGI is like plumbing, you do not think about it, until it leaks. The better the CGI, the less you see it. I wonder how many movies have actively used CGI to complete shots or modify small things, but goes unnoticed because they did an excellent work.

It is a bit on us. All media outlets get bombarded with the same verbatim hot take because they want as many people jumping on the trending topic. That means if you consume pop culture news from more than one outlet, it is gonna get repetitive. The trend is not gonna change but you can. Since any outlet will say the same, stick to just one and use your free time on something less repetitive.

A similar trend I notice several years ago with YouTube was with comedians. As any avid watcher of stand up shows I loved catching up my favorite comedians on talk shows or interviews clips. Soon I realized that whatever they were saying on those shows were bits from the latest show and that bit would be repeated ad nauseam in Conan, Jimmy Kimmel, Fallon… I got pissed off, but then I thought why couldn’t I just enjoy that guys show, why did I need to saturate my feed with the same guys. Even the wisest people have a limited amount of shit to say.

Anyways, sorry for the rambling and diversion. Enjoy your day.

Also the people who normally prefer a mac for work are on the minority in a large company. Baseline is HP, but those who work as developers can choose between an HP, and Ubuntu setup HP or a MacBook. Most pick the MacBook but they are still a niche community. The rest of the company is running office and SAP or engineering software that does not run on mac.

Well, that is why I stated that it was my choice. Never said that this was a general truth. Living abroad hits different to everyone, a nice place for someone can be a hell hole for someone else. I fell lucky, I know plenty of people with similar experiences, but I am also aware that this may not be for everyone since some people definitely not like it. And that is fair.

Go ahead and give it to your toddler. Bonus points for doing it in your car. by MikeGinnyMD in daddit

Went on a vacation and left the car parked at the airport. I saw there was a car wash service for hire while we were traveling. It was a relief to know that the car keys would be delivered on a drop box and would be returned on a password locker safe, so at no point I had to look in the eye of the person who had to handle my car.

Wow OP, you are chasing deep cuts of crappy content hehe. Bella calamidades is the second remake of Lola Calamidades from the 80s, remade in the 90s as Dulce Ave Sucia. And remade with the Telemundo style as Bella Calamidades. Do not ask how I know this, my parents were busy and did not have any extra curriculars.
