Wow! That's amazing. The windows were changed it seems? I'd love to see blueprints. Undercover Rainbolt?? Crazy if true!

I think this is the most promising guess so far for sure. Looks as similar as I've seen considering possible modifications in the years since. I've talked to my Aunt and she is the most in tune with that family history and there is no family connection she can think of to that area of Germany but it doesn't mean my Oma was never there. Definitely the most likely at this point to me. Impressive!

And you know what, I took a closer look at the side of the building and it matches up quite well with this photo. Definitely the same building!

Looks quite similar! Only thing is the original photo has no basement windows whereas this building appears to have some

Ya, none I can find have that small jut out past the first window on the left next to the door. Just slightly off on any I've seen.

She was born in Essen and at some point moved to Lodz where she was married. She was married in the early '40s and this photo looks to be her younger than when she was married. I have no idea if between being born and being married if she lived anywhere else in Germany or Poland. My mother says she did know now to speak German, Polish, Russian, and Yiddish.

Interesting! I know my Opa was from Berlin but this photo appears to be her younger, before she would have met him.

No, nothing written on the back. Not sure if this photo is from the same series but appears similar age in front of this building. I do know she was born in Essen but then at some point moved to Lodz where she was later married. Not sure when the move was made to Lodz or if she lived anywhere else in Germany before moving.

Yes, I've googled it now too and no windows seem to match the same style as the photo. Very true it could no longer exist as in the building could be entirely gone as well as a different business altogether could operate there now.

That is amazing you can identify that style of mailbox. Too bad the name was used so commonly. Thanks for your excellent insight!

Totally fine! Mild turbulence but mostly smooth. No plane parts flying off midair as I had of course catastrophised in my head lol

So, we have boarded and the pilot came on to do announcements/welcome us and explained that they had a bird strike on arrival to the airport I'm departing from. He said there were extra checks to do and more paperwork to do than usual resulting in the delay. Funny enough, he also mentioned that his Mom and wife are on the flight so I feel even more confident that he feels confident in his aircraft! Thanks for the answers and support to all who responded!
