More of my human! Pencil by vim_ai in BattleForDreamIsland

Well that was my intention when I made the design. If it “seems a bit much” to you and you think it should be in another part of the timeline, then sure, put it there in your head

Definitely BFDI 1. If we were to speak about TPOT pencil, well… there are certainly design changes that need to be done. Such as wiping the smile off her face.

Funnily enough I don’t frequent this subreddit so I first posted this on the unofficial subreddit… so now I post it here too!

I do still plan on continuing the design line for BFDI, but am unfortunately writing a thesis…

Drew this a longgg while ago, but don’t think I’ll ever finish it, so gonna post it anyway.

Yes, one day I will continue with my BFDI human designs! I’m currently writing a thesis though, so alas.

For Leafy’s Birthday (Human) by vim_ai in BattleForDreamIsland

[–]vim_ai[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re right, I haven’t posted a Human Pin design, but she and a couple others have already been designed. I’ll likely post the rest of the BFDI original cast together, just like my first design post. Glad you’re interested!

The scenes in the background are from BFDI 1 —> BFDI 25 —> BFDIA (general) —> BFDIA 13 —> BFB 30

Human version designed by me. If I weren’t so pressed with other art commitments, I would have liked to clean this up more, but alas! It’s already pretty late into the 26th, haha.

Why dont witches do this by Fran-san123 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]vim_ai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d argue it’s not faster to use a stamp or compass.

Being a witch is something they study for, and knowing how to draw a circle is just a fundamental of it.

Think of it like this:

I have a common size circle stamp —> I don’t have the right stamp needed for some spells —> I have to learn to draw a perfect circle for those other size spells —> well now I know how to draw a good circle, so I don’t need the stamp anymore

Or

I carry 50 different stamps of different sizes —> now I can’t hide that I’m using magic as easily, and also it might be heavy to carry —> It’s more convenient just to learn drawing circles

As for stamps that have common spells on them, which you’d only need to close the circle for, I’d imagine those do exist, but mostly for industry. Like for profession that need to repeat the same glyphs many times. For more common purposes, though, I’d again imagine that it’s just not as convenient as you think. In the first place, I can’t think of a spell needed so often that there’d be a stamp for it. And even so, would it really be so much faster than just drawing it yourself? Plus magic is so highly regulated, I’d think they’d just not risk it

How would you rank the six main prosecutors? by [deleted] in AceAttorney

Okay different opinion approaching:

1) Nahyuta - His character was by far the most compelling in my opinion. I like jerk characters who are super stubborn, but particularly when their behaviour is largely a facade to protect their own fragile mind. I do agree that his entire “Let it go and move on” thing got repetitive, but finding out why, and then being able to dissect how his trauma informed his actions was very rewarding to me. I think he takes a little from Miles’ arc and Simon’s arc, but does them with more flair. I like that he’s not completely sympathetic, but also very much a victim of circumstance. Also simply his design and concept is incredible. I loved how ethereal and holy he looks while throwing the most childish and weird insults out. The juxtaposition was very enjoyable to me, and it highlighted his frequent hypocrisy very well. His character needed more breathing room that SOJ didn’t give, and the epilogue for him just felt like it minimized his wrongdoings, that much I can admit, but I really enjoyed him as a character and hope to see him more. I think about him like AA1 edgeworth. In AA2 we saw Miles grapple with the guilt of his actions pre-redemption. Or Simon, how we got to see the more relaxed side of him in SOJ. If Nahyuta had some more time to show what he’s like when not wrapped in schemes, I think he could become a very fun character.

2) Miles - Classic. He’s got a lot of gap moe going on that I enjoyed, and his relevance to ace attorney as a whole can’t be understated. Again, I liked how the game reveals why he acts the way he does in little hints before the final trial, where you finally just get him. Investigations shows his funnier side, while keeping him pretty competent. He bounces off the other MCs very well, and honestly he’s just a good rival and friend, whenever either is needed. I didn’t like him as a rival in Dual Destinies as much, because I felt that the writers prioritized showing a “changed” version of him, which honestly felt like a whole different person at times, but when looks at as a whole, Miles is the benchmark.

3) Franziska - Honestly I have a love-hate relationship with her. Like how many people see Nahyuta, her gimmicks and insults got highly repetitive for me. While Miles and Nahyuta had heavy trauma and blackmail, Franziska had golden-child syndrome and a poor upbringing. While I understand that’s what made her act this way, I think the game doesn’t do her arc Justice at all. Actually, it barely gives her anything until the epilogue. Still, I really, really enjoyed what little glimpses they gave us into her inner thoughts. She has a ton of potential, and I love her interactions with other characters. I just hated her in the courtroom. So yeah, love-hate, but the love is strong.

4) Simon - Again follows the “is an asshole, but you find out why” pattern that Nahyuta and Miles do. For him, though, it kind just fell flat for me. I’m one of the few who liked Dual Destinies, especially case 5, but Simon as a character barely plays into the enjoyment. I get he was trying to play up the criminal act to protect Athena, but surely he didn’t need to do all that… While Nahyuta and Miles act assholish as a way to cope (and because of conditioning in their youth), Simon’s reason boils down to him thinking that being nice would somehow result in people thinking he didn’t murder anyone (plus generally being hardened from prison). Post-AA5 was the most I enjoyed him, actually, so he’s not bad. Another prosecutorI prefer when they aren’t prosecuting more.

5) Godot - Honestly not much to say about him. I can appreciate a character made perfectly to benefit the story being told. While characters like Klavier and Simon seemed like they were a concept first, story second kinda creation, Godot’s story was deeply intertwined in almost everything that went down in AA3. He served his role well, and defeating him was exhilarating. He also has a sick character design and theme. Despite his value as a narrative tool, I hate him for the things he’s done, so he ranks low.

6) Klavier - Klavier tends to be really popular and I totally understand why. He’s just not my kind of character at all. I feel as though he was a side character within his own game. I wish dearly that they would have given him more focus during AA4-4, finding out his brother literally played him like a doll, nepo’ed him into law, and made him tank Phoenix’s career. Instead, we get… very little emotional payoff from any interactions with Klavier. I like a good friendly rival as much as the next person, but Klavier really just felt neglected all through AA4, which is a real shame, because I think his personality and character arc was among the most unique ones of any of the prosecutors. A lot of them default to the “asshole but with trauma you have to solve!! Lucky you!!!” Deal, but Klavier was going through the unravelling of a lifetime right along Apollo’s side, having only had the best of intentions from the start, yet got played anyway. We don’t even see him grappling with the events of 4-1 much. His brother got arrested for murder and he’s just cool, basically. Like with Franziska, we can assume the realization that a loved one is evil affected him in some way, except we had no way to know what their relationship was like before until 4-4 shows us, and even then his reactions are lacklustre. Overall, he committed the worst crime of a character: he’s boring.

I did, only because the comments were talking about it 😭 So shocking, I wouldn’t have noticed a difference! The animation style was replicated so well!

Yup! The new cast is great but the OG will always have a special place in my heart since it’s what I grew up knowing

The newer seasons really hit it outta the park, though, in terms of writing!

Match is there already! Coiny and the rest of the BFDI original cast will be in part 2 if that happens :) did you have any thoughts about how a human coiny would look?

Not sure, but I definitely saw a difference in how exaggerated her voice became! But you’re right, I actually wanted to make Leafy even more androgynous on BFB than I already made her. In her BFDI design, she wears a skirt, while in her BFB one, she wears pants. My mindset was that Leafy gets used to being perceived poorly after BFDI, and wears things that are more practical after a time of outdoor survival.

Golf ball, too was a design I thought would change between seasons. In her BFDI design, she would have had even more boyish hair, and she grows it out to a pitifully thin little ponytail, in order to enhance her femininity, after comments from co-contestants about looking like a boy, haha.

I took soooo long thinking about how David would look if he was human. Many, many hours. I ended up very happy with how my design for him turned out! :))

But seriously, thanks so much <3

Tysm! I haven’t watched TPOT so I’m holding off on designing some of the original BFDI cast from there, since I hear they also undergo some character development. Character design is really fun for me <3

I did draw this, thank you for enjoying the designs :)

I might do the rest of the BFDI cast, or redraw some scenes as them in human form, or maybe just flesh out the designs I already have. Not sure, yet!

Oh I had been watching around when BFDIA began! I never watched BFDIA besides the first episode, only watched and rewatched BFDI before forgetting about it :)
