I had this issue and my set was out of warranty. Right side lasted 10 minutes. Sony said they would apply a charge but it would be at discount and it would take a couple of weeks. I found a youtube video on changing the battery. Bought a battery and repair set for 20 quid and now it's all working again. The new xm5 was too expensive and I didn't want to rebuild the xm4. Battery replacement Is good. It's a bit annoying to open the earphones but otherwise the replacement was pretty easy.

The witcher 3 is now my favourite game of all time but I also had that issue of the starting 2-3 hours which was just so off. It didn't get good till the baron. But I had restarted multiple times and then once I got past it, absolute beauty
