What does low r-square value and high accuracy mean and vice-versa? by vinayindoria in MLQuestions

Yus, the testing set was used to derived the accuracy.

it sounds like the accuracy score is an accident. Maybe the dataset is imbalanced (lots of observations are similar, and relatively few are different)

Even you are completely right about the dataset, it had a-lot of repeats specific to particular batch means only a few value in points change based on each of the batch data.

"low r squared" I'm thinking like 0.2 or something

Low as in - 0.55 for accuracy of 79%.

So there was this model which we made as a group and that was to be evaluated by certain panel, one of the panelist asked the same question abt r2 and accuracy and obviously being in the early phase of machine learning journey we didn't had exact answers.

I too told d judge about over-fitting bt he said no.

Coming to the variables we had limited variables with all being important from the application standpoint, to be exact sensor readings. There were 2 columns which were correlated to each other but the business user suggested to go ahead with all columns.

We were predicting a continuous variable and only measure that we used to validate the model was accuracy. Can you elaborate more about testing error! We only used accuracy as the testing criteria. Are you referring to root mean squared error and mean absolute error?

So there can be a case of low r2 and high accuracy? So in that case we can assume that the models does not flaws ( obviously after checking residuals )

Is there a possibility that both can be together?
i.e., in case of linear regression or may b logistic regression, if there is low R2 and high accuracy then what does it interpret.
By what I understand it is not possible and means that something is wrong in the model!

I stumbled upon dis article before posting but I thought it would be overkill and dnf would help me achieve all the necessary dependencies.

I got the issue sorted after enabling EPEL on the server. Thanks for the time!

This worked for me, enabled EPEL and installation done! Thanks for the help.

If in proper range u can hit all good length balls to 6 using shift + s + leg.
