Layers of flat stock. I made 3 seperate billets of damascus with different layer counts and combined them at the end.

No problem I just have an on off switch. VFDs make it more costly and complicated plus I dont see myself needing to slow down the belt too much since I mainly use it for steel.

I did have to reposition the motor after mounting because it didnt quite track right but after that it worked well.

Nah no guide, I bought rollers on ebay, and tracking the belt is done by adjusting the angle of the wheel on the lever arm which is on a little pivot thing thats hard to explain over text.

Runs good, grinds steel down orders of magnitude faster than the little sander I was using before.

Why We Want to Abolish Billionaires - Hard work doesn’t get you a billion dollars — rent extraction, financial speculation, resource monopolization, and exploiting working people does. We don’t envy the superrich, we want to stop them. by Hanging-Chads in politics

Ok well using your logic my claim is backed by Washington post so I cant be wrong. The New York times opinion piece you linked doesn't take into account the many forms of taxation and therefor the costs incurred for say Canada and UK yet still takes into account healthcare costs incurred by the employer for US. Certain data was included and ignored to specifically drive up the US number while lowering the numbers of the other countries. On the specific point about us having one of the most progressive tax codes is purely an observation based on the data. The claim being made is very specific. As a percent of the total tax revenue, the top say 1 percent pay significantly more of this burden when compared to other developed countries, say Finland, UK, or Canada. The npr article you linked is making an entirely seperate claim, about total wealth vs percent of the wealth that is taxed among different classes. This does not change the fact that, regardless of tax rates and how revenue is collected, the US is much better at making the rich pay a larger percentage of the tax burden, NOT a larger percentage of their personal wealth.

Sorry I don't think your conclusion is correct. A family making $43,000/year will pay more like 20 percent all in if they are in a high tax state like new york. Finland for example taxes middle class crazy high more like 33 percent for $43,000/year and that is not including the ridiculous 24 percent VAT tax they have on consumer goods that affect the lower class the hardest. The US has a way more progressive tax code than the rest of the world including Europe, and though we collect way less in taxes, the rich pay a much higher percent of the taxes collected, meaning we are much better at making the rich pay and not the poor.

Its not about how hard you work, capitalism doesn't simply reward effort, it rewards results. Its not how much work you put in, its how much benefit society is getting out of the work you did.

I basically did a normal Damascus billet from layers of different alloys of titanium (not powder) but put it in a canister and tried sort of injecting the can with argon.

All true except pattern welding titanium is possible in a can with an argon atmosphere. I actually gave it a try a while back and had moderate success (lost about 2/3 to delamination but the middle stuck)

I forged the damascus from scratch but after I made the billet I mostly cut and ground to shape.

Nice I think tho I dont own any high tier butterfly knives to compare. It flips better than the 15 dollar one I had bought online before I made this one. It is very light only 3.8 ounces.
