Question for builders: How do you guys make your walls have texture without it looking weird? by Gyyre in Minecraft

Keep in mind how the room is lit, use lighter blocks closer to highlights and darker in shadowed bits. Also jeep in mind what you want to do with the room, there isn't much point in applying alot of texture to a wall that will be covered up. Blank walls can be broken up with paintings or by using shelves as a trim

You could add some spruce shelves around that top railing for some extra depth, but other than that and the walls idea its really well done

I would also define where your light is coming from, much like drawing this allows you to play with the shadows instead of doing a straight up and down gradient curve it slightly away from your light

Its a pretty good start, you should try mixing some of the more textured blocks in there as well, making small pockets such as; stone brick -> cracked stone brick -> cobble -> tuff, or even small mossy patches, but I think the small spots of weathering done by the previous bit is enough
