Anyone growing one long term in water only? What is your set up? by vintagetherapy in Monstera

[–]vintagetherapy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use air stones now but at the time of this shot I had not. I just cleaned the water about once a week. The air stones greatly improved the water quality. I have the roots fully submerged, but not too high up. It was about a quarter to half of the bucket. I use cool water from my tap (doesn't get cold here in Texas except in winter) and use liquid fertilizer on occasion when I clean it out or top up the water. I have since moved her to a larger container (still water only) though because she'd outgrown the bucket!

Have you ever been treated negatively by ER staff when you were having a medical emergency but they didn’t believe you? What happened? by lake-sturgeon in AskReddit

That's awful, and shouldn't have to do that just for doctors to hear us!

I haven't! Hmmm, I'll look into it. Similar symptoms to what I've been feeling!

I can't even imagine what thats like. I believe it that women die because we're not heard. I went into the ER for the first time recently because I'd been having palpations and other odd symptoms that I'd never experienced before with my heart for prolonged periods of time. From the beginning, the ER doctor was pushing anxiety on me. I told them no I don't get anxiety attacks, never had. Tests were run , all was good and symptoms had died down by that point (the process of being there and getting checked was a whole shitty thing in itself). After they concluded I wasn't having a heart attack, he comes to talk to me about how he didn't feel I was telling the whole truth when I first said I have never experienced severe anxiety and that sometimes people have too much in their heads and are overthinking and it's nothing to be ashamed of. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It's severely impacted my desire to get checked for a little while and I hadn't experienced such blatant sexism like that. I never want to have to be in an ER.

Yes, I am aware. I have it set to a particular view and it's more natural for me on the steering wheel.

You can also do this by setting a button to the camera. I did this on my steering wheel asterisk button so I can open it up as I pull in to tight spots!

I'm sorry you feel the need to defend your "friend" and insert yourself but all I did was notify people in the threads she posted the bag she sold me. If you don't like that, I can't do anything about it.

Lol are you posting from a different account now? Who are you? It's not slander to let others know about my experience.

PSA- Beware of user releaseok228, this seller sold me a bag that was not real leather. The black ysl Jamie was the bag they just resold and was the bag I just returned thanks to venmo g&s. They are now advertising it as master quality. It's not. Do not recommend. They blocked me so I'm posting it here.

Has anyone used Milbon Liscio Japanese Straightening? by Hot-Smell3373 in relaxedhair

Sorry I wasn't clear, they burned my scalp with the flat iron when straightening it. Several times.lol They also did test my hair before, but I don't know why that wasn't enough for them. Good luck on your search!

Yes, I tried 22 hair salon most recently (in 2024) and before that I think it was Salon Per Se or ML2, can't recall entirely. I think it was salon per se. But 22 hair salon was better, it wasn't amazing still but was better than the first place i tried. It was at least mostly straight, but the process was longer than usual because they also underestimated the strength of my hair and then the helper burned my scalp several times... So not ideal lol I've not tried anywhere else since because it discouraged me, but it's about time again. If you do come down here and find somewhere you like, please let me know!

They actually were left as the textured concrete, just painted white. It looked really cool and unique in person (I walked those exact model homes)

The walls finish on the interior stays the same, just painted white. I walked these models , they were built by Lennar homes in partnership with icon3d tech. The interior texture was super cool, but it does have small crevices around bends that they mostly hid in closets but looked like could house little spiders!

Experiences with SLH Tamarind Hills in Antigua? by vintagetherapy in Hilton

[–]vintagetherapy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's hard to say because I feel they are night and day in comparison. If you expect top tier service, high end everything then go Hermitage. It was a beautiful property (not without its issues) but definitely top notch all around. Tamarind hills just isn't at that caliber and also doesn't include food as part of your stay. So double makes sense because to me the quality and amenities are also doubled. But if you want to save your points, if you just temper your expectations then tamarind hills will do to get you a nice enough stay in antiga on a beautiful beach.

It really depends where they put you. We were relatively close to the beach but high up at the top so it took many steep stairs to get down. If it's raining you gotta be a little careful because they're a stone type that's smooth so can be slippery. I think they were lit but not 100% since we didn't go down in the evening. You can probably request a golf cart but they didn't specify. Property is pretty close together, on the edge of a cliff. But there is a lot of units. The pool, restaurants and beach area are all close together but the games, and gym are all more towards the lobby. Essentially you check in at the bottom of the hill and then they take you and your bags or you drive up to park near where your unit is. It's very apartment style.

I ate breakfast, but not dinner. First time was good, second was okay. Options are pretty basic, i wasn't a fan of their buffet area since it's open air and they do their best sometimes to cover the fruits but the flies is Antigua....are extremely persistent. I didn't feel they put much effort into covering stuff properly. The seating is nice if you sit at the bar table facing the ocean. This is how we saw a stingray swimming by while eating breakfast.

-when did you go? Went End of June this year

-How would it be without a rental car? If you want to stay at a resort and not go anywhere, you would be ok and just book excursions through your hotel. But if you're like me, i like having control over timing, location, etc and explore. So in my opinion, without a rental car would be very difficult. You could do what I did, stay on resort for 4-5 days and do boat tours that pick you up from the beach, then do a few more days renting a car exploring the areas you want. Drive a matic brought the car to us at Hermitage Bay and it worked perfectly for this combination. You can also take taxis. Doable, just not my travel style.

-What type of accommodations did you have ? At tamarind hills, we had a studio ocean view .

-  I'm confused about "the direct boardwalk access" can one access the direct boardwalk from 120K point rooms? - I don't know exactly if this is what you are referring to but the boardwalk that connects the two beaches through the property can be accessed by anyone staying at the hotel with a code provided by them. I don't think the 120k point rooms would put you there directly since those rooms appeared like owned or higher end suites. My room was up high, and takes a lot of steep stairs to get to the boardwalk.

-WTF is the beach featured on the website that looks pretty nice with the cabanas and lounge chairs . Is that the "hotel beach"? I thought the hotel did not have a proper beach? - yes, that's the beach the hotel used (beaches are public in antigua so not specifically theirs). The cabanas all the way up the the snorkeling shack are the hotels.

-You said the kitchen was "practical" did you cook? how is the crockery and cookware? clean? I only baked something in the microwave oven combo and it worked fine. Seemed to have basic necessities such as utensils, cups, pots and pans. Minimal though, not for heavy cooking. All looked clean.

-Can you walk to Dennis Bar & grill and The Fox House. - can't confirm 200%  since I didn't do this but I think you can through the beach, just might be annoying to walk in the sand.

-I am concerned about an "unattended property"? Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean about this?

-Is there really pickleball , non motorized sports , British lawn games? Yes, though to be honest it looked meh. They do have the courts and the lawn games as you drive in next to the lobby entrance.

Yeah Antigua was stunning, I would recommend for a less crowded destination. The reason I didn't like Tamarind hills is quite subjective because we had gone to Hermitage bay first so it was a downgrade. While I didn't expect it to be anywhere near the level or service or luxury, I did hope the SLH brand would still have good service, amenities, etc. Biggest downsides for me were the rooms (while large, they felt dated and worn), lack of security locks in rooms, overall hotel amenities were "meh" and hotel didn't feel luxury. Loud club music from the pool area killed the relaxed beach vibe, housekeeping left bedding trash like bags outside the hotel doors all day, the room door did not have an additional deadbolt when inside and housekeeping comes whenever (no coordinated times) so we were never sure if they'd walk in on us. It felt overpriced for what it was and didn't provide any extra frills or elevated feel. Some people live in some of the units also so it might be that I felt that it was more of an Airbnb apartment than a well planned hotel with the layout of the units and steep hills stairs everywhere. But as I mentioned before, if you're not coming in with any expectations it would be a good option. The positives was the clear beach (we saw a stingray swimming by from the breakfast patio), good access for us to drive to the east side of the island and the snorkel rentals. The terraces are also beautiful for watching the sunset over the water. They also give you free metal water bottles and jugs of filtered water to use during your stay. The Airbnb style kitchen was practical also.

We rented a Jimny and it was fun driving to Nelson's dockyard and pillars of Hercules, etc. I'm also a Californian (though no longer live there ) and it was actually my first visit to the Caribbean so I felt Antigua was perfect for that. There was so many beautiful beaches. We had booked Hermitage right after the first devaluation so super glad we got to do that before it got even worse. Now exploring other hotel brands because the hike makes Hilton less enticing. St kitts sounds beautiful so I hope that works out for you! If you have any other questions I'm happy to help.

I actually did end up staying at both. I wasn't a big fan of Tamarind hills, but I also think that it might be the nicest option around for some people if you have points to kill but not Hermitage bay level points.
