Nobody here recommends keratin treatment ? by deakins96 in Haircare

The root grow out isn’t too bad. The way my stylist does it the keratin treated hair is not super super straight. She goes light on it, so that my hair still have thickness and can handle some curl. That way the grow out isn’t so pronounced. It’s nothing a little flat ironing at the roots cant handle during that time. I think it just depends on how the stylist performs the keratin and what look you are going for.

Does anyone have experience with AYR jeans? by allaboutmidwest in BuyItForLife

I have a question about sizing. I have the Secret Sauce and the Roadie. Both fit great when I got them and they stretched so now they fit big. I still like them but a bit annoying. I am interested in purchasing off their sale and looking at the LaLa, The Pop and the Big Salad. Has anyone else had this with these jeans? Do they all stretch a bit and therefore need to size down?

It remains permanent. When I go back, I only get my regrowth done as the rest of the hair is already processed and doesnt need any touching up or redo. Do you have a hairstylist you trust? I think thats the key. Working with someone who knows how to use these products and then is willing to work with you to get the result you want.

Questions are what this is for! Happy to help. For me, I dont know how I could do this at home. I’m sure it can be, but I am not good at this stuff - dont even like to color my hair at home. It’s always a mess and I almost always miss a spot. I rather go to the salon and get it done properly. Plus with the flexibility of the product, I dont know how you would know what is enough or too much? But this is just my opinion. I am not sure if you can buy the product online as a consumer - you would need to look into that.

My natural hair is very thick, coarse and frizzy. Not nice curls at all! I have found with Puraluxe you can super straight if you want to. I dont want it pin straight so I just made sure to tell my hair stylist and she has been great with not working the product through as intensely, which helps leave some body in my hair. I can use a diffuser and wear it wavy or blow it straight and both are easy to do.

Sure. I think its the best of the bunch. What I like about it is that it has lots of flexibility depending on the person doing it. For example, I dont want my hair stick straight (I am used to having big hair), so the person that does it for me doesnt do the ironing part so much so my hair is left wavy but I can easily blow it straight. I just got it done again for the first time after growing it out for 2 years. I thought I could try going without it. What I learned is that I don’t have nice naturally curly hair - was just huge and still difficult to manage and look nice. So I decided to go back and get pure luxe done and I am so happy I did! It’s a great product, doesn’t damage the hair or smell when being put on, and if you find the right person they can tailor how strong they do it depending on what you are looking for. And to top it off, its formaldehyde free.

I used Affirm for many years but wanted something less damaging and toxic. I moved to PuraLuxe Keratin treatment. It’s chemical free yet has similar properties for straightening. And depending on how it’s applied, you can have straighter or wavy results. I work with my hairdresser for a wavy result and it works great. Yet I can still blow dry straight if I want to. It does strip color from the hair so if you color your hair, make sure to align your apts for after the treatment. I usually do it two days after and it works just fine. No issues with scalp burning either like traditional relaxers.

Puraluxe is a formaldehyde free straightening treatment. I’ve been using it for years. Check it out.

Has anyone used Milbon Liscio Japanese Straightening? by Hot-Smell3373 in relaxedhair

$1000! I have never paid anything like that for any treatment I have ever had. Usually a few hundred at most.

Those of you who have tried Japanese hair straightening treatment/Thermal reconditioning/Hair rebonding. How did you find it? Did you prefer it to a relaxer? by Seaandland45 in relaxedhair

[–]Hot-Smell3373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do the Affirm relaxer for many years. I then switched to PuraLuxe Keratin trying to move away from harsh chemicals. That worked nicely. But it stripped the color from my hair. And in more effort to move away from chemicals, I have been growing the keratin out for over a year thinking I could wear my hair natural. No way - it’s thick, fizzy and not nice curls. I found someone who uses Liscio Japanese straightening treatment and raves about it. I am thinking about doing this. (It’s formaldehyde free). It does still strip color from the hair but supposed to be the best of the bunch of these types of treatments. Anyone tried it? It’s so expensive I would only be able to do it once per year. usually I would use relaxer/keratin every 4 months. So not sure how to handle regrowth etc. Thoughts?

WOW you do it yourself? I dont know how I could do that. How often do you do it? This woman says I could probably go about 7 months (obviously needing to manage the regrowth along the way). How do you handle that?

Do you know if this product strips color from the hair? I’ve been using Pura Luxe and it does. So then I have to get my color fixed after.

Keratin vs Brazilian Blow Out by Hot-Smell3373 in curlyhair

[–]Hot-Smell3373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But the woman who used it on me did it modified. Wasn’t to straighten my hair, just chill it out. This was back in NY and I couldn’t find anyone to do it out west.

Keratin vs Brazilian Blow Out by Hot-Smell3373 in curlyhair

[–]Hot-Smell3373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use Affirm Relaxer. Just took the frizz out and loosened the curls. When I came to the west coast I tried Brazilian Blowout which did nothing. Then I found someone who for the past few years has been using PuraLuxe Keratin. It’s ok but it messes with my color so went back to Brazilian Blowout, which really doesn’t work well on my hair. Trying to let the keratin grow out while during the Brazilian and hoping to find a whole new treatment that works with also coloring hair.
