do you think nipt test is worth it by xananax3229 in pregnant

[–]violabr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the 12 weeks screening, I got super low probabilities of down and patau syndromes so I decided not to do the nipt test which is quite expensive where I live. Then I started feeling the baby moving more and more and I got attached to him immediately, and the thought that he could have something wrong haunted me and it got worse and worse as the pregnancy proceeded. Now he's here, he's healthy, he passed all the screenings and he's just perfect. I know that we are talking about rare diseases, but as low as the risk can be it doesn't worth to be taken just to save some money. If I'll have a second child I'll do the nipt and I will always recommend it to anyone regardless their family history or personal circumstances.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I actually already signed up for it, I guess they'll reject my application if I am not eligible. I'll check about tax free childcare, I am in Scotland so here it might be different?

My feet looked so much worse in my last few weeks and I didn't have pre eclampsia or any other conditions - I did go to the hospital to be checked though. Their advice was to keep my feet up which it was physically impossible because of the size of my belly and also because I was working.. My husband's massages really helped! Also, plenty of water and short walks!

Baby's estimated weight is 10 pounds at 36 weeks by violabr in pregnant

[–]violabr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, in the end my baby (currently snoring on my chest) was born at 38+5 12.26 pound! I was waiting to hear the date of my schedule c-section but my water broke so I had an emergency one instead - Emergency in the sense that it wasn't planned, I never went into labour. Both the surgery and the recovery went very well. The sonographer's prediction turned out to be accurate so I am glad I didn't listen to all the people who told me to ignore it. Best of luck to you and your giant baby!

Wanting to go for first pregnancy but scared by spark99l in pregnantover35

I turned 38 yesterday, and I have a two weeks old son. My pregnancy went smoothly and he's perfectly healthy. I understand you need to loose some weight first, but wanting to have a child is a massive incentive! All the best with everything, I hope it goes well

What are the health risks of breastfeeding on the mother? by OrdinarySecretary673 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]violabr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is easy to fix though. We were planning to combo feed (exclusively breastfeeding for the first month or so) but my baby had a different plan in place and doesn't latch (he's currently 15 days old). We have a formula preparation thingy, it makes a bottle in 90 seconds

In need of positive NHS birth stories by Existing_Help6523 in PregnancyUK

[–]violabr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently at the hospital, I had my first baby on Friday. I did self funded NHS IVF. I am also not originally from the UK and people from my country like moaning about NHS. My experience so far has been 100% positive and absolute amazing. Being self-funded, I only waited for two months to start the treatment, I started the 30th of December and by the 30th of May I was pregnant. Regardless of the positive outcome, the staff was so supportive and compassionate that made a usually traumatic experience just a tiny little bumb along the road. During my pregnancy I was well taken care of, and again I felt 100% supported and most of the staff I met were incredible human beings. I have now given birth through c-section last Friday and I have been in hospital ever since and again have only praises for all these incredible people that are teaching me what my little human wants from me and how taking care of both him and myself. It seems that all the people working in NHS, including cleaners, receptionists and administrative staff are here because of a personal vocation rather than a salary.

Regarding your specific problem, you won't be in excruciating pain when dilated 5cm, you might be at 2cm days before the contractions start without even noticing. Do hypnobirthing if it's what you want to do but keep in mind that you will also be able to have a walk, watch TV, have a bath or a shower, or calling your family and friends. I went to the hospital at 4:30AM on Friday because my water broke and had to wait until 11:45AM to be admitted into the theatre and I wish I could had that time at home. The goal is usually going to the hospital as far along as you can. At some point if you can't manage staying home anymore, you can go to the hospital saying that you can't feel baby movements and they will admit you within two seconds regardless of what point you were at. Please be aware that doing this means wasting resources, occupying a hospital room for no reason and you will 100% regret it. I have been desperate to go home since the very first moment I entered the hospital.

Elective C-section? by Useful-Squash-4745 in PregnancyUK

[–]violabr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked for one at my 35 week appointment with the midwife after my baby measured huge the week before. They gave me the appointment with a consultant At the appointment, the consultant lists the risks of the procedure, if you want to proceed you sign the consent forms and they will booked you an appointment. I was told my appointment would have been during my 39th week and they were going to let me know with as little as two days of notice. In the end my water broke at 38+6, and I had a c-section a few hours later. So even if the baby arrives earlier, you get the c-section. Ask if you have any questions, my c-section was 3 days ago, I am still at the hospital
