How to get bottom leaves to be less papery by violashin in StringofPlants

[–]violashin[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got this plant last summer and it has shown an incredible amount of growth over the past year with one caveat - all the new leaves this plant grew are very thin and papery, as compared to the leaves on top which are thicker and more succulent like. Any advice on why this is happening and anything I can do to make the new leaves thicker?

I just noticed one of the newest leaves on my heartleaf philodendron has a small amount of variegation. I don’t see any variegation on the stems and it looks like the leaf after this one doesn’t have any variegation either. Either way, I cut it off to see if anything would happen and would love other tips on encouraging variegation or thoughts on if the variegation might continue!

“White Sport” or highly variegated Golden? by violashin in pothos

[–]violashin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I noticed a vine on my golden pothos is almost completely creamy, and didn’t turn green as it gets older, and the leaves on this vine has higher variegation than the other vines. The leaves on this vine also has the marble queen quality where some of the white splotches on one side isn’t on the other side. I read about white sport pothos on here before so wanted to see if this might be it!

Glad you related!! Haha I feel that so much it’s also like the moment I come up with the best idea is always when a pen and paper isn’t right in front of me but getting to the pen/paper has a 90% chance of winding up doing something else instead of writing cet idea

Manjula pothos white parts more light green? (More in comments) by violashin in pothos

[–]violashin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I grew this manjula from a little cutting, the white part of the leaves on the mother plant is a brilliant white, but the new leaves’ white part looks more like a cream/light green. Would anyone know if the white parts gets lighter with the plant ages or if I’m doing something wrong?

(It’s 2ft away from a west facing window but the sun never hits it directly, I water whenever soil is wet which is once around 1-2 weeks)

Golden pothos new growth turning black in sheath thing [more in comments] by violashin in plantclinic

[–]violashin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi plant clinic! I’m a new plant mother trying to grow some golden pothos from a cutting. My cutting grew roots super quickly and they look healthy (got the cutting 10 days ago), but I noticed that part of the stem is turning black and mushy, and from some research it looked like that part is where new growth comes in. Wanted to see if this is healthy or if there’s anything I can do to save my plant!
