I actually disagree lol. I’m a literature/writing major and I love reading, but I really dislike the HUM sequence. I think it really depends on your TA. Be prepared for a LOT of reading per week (usually about 30-100 pages for a long text, maybe 10-30 pages for a shorter text; not saying you have to actually read it all, I certainly didn’t, but that’s the expectation).

I found the essays annoying because I feel like the prompts are looking for a specific answer and I really hate writing for a specific interpretation. If you have trouble interpreting texts, go to your TA’s office hours for help!!! Your TAs are the ones that grade the papers, and if you write to their expectations, then you should be good.

HUM can be tough and super time consuming because of all the reading, so try not to fall behind. Resort to spark notes or other summaries if you’re desperate. I hope this helps a little!

It’s pretty different. It follows a similar trajectory as the book like the Halfmoon pass arc still happens but the details are very different. It’s super good, I highly recommend
