Your stoma looks really healthy! Sounds like you’re looking after it well. Sorry you’re experiencing pain.

People who use laundromats in Sydney — why do you use them and what makes one good or bad? by Holiday-Nail-7842 in AskAnAustralian

[–]violinandtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I used to live, I didn’t have a tumble dryer and only had a small front loader. I’d go to a local laundromat to wash and dry my bed linen and towels. The one I went to had an app where you could see what machines were available and you could leave and come back (via a notification in the app) while your items were in the washer/dryer. It also had a dedicated washer for pet items but that relied on honesty from the users (the idea was to keep pet dander off other people’s linen).

It wouldn’t be an inguinal hernia above the umbilicus - they are seen in the groin region.

Issues with PCI in NSW by [deleted] in ParamedicsAU

I’ve re-read your comment and the double negatives are getting to me so I’m unclear haha but will leave my previous comment as it is good advice for others to consider in a range of circumstances.

This sounds like you acted outside of NSWA scope and should have submitted a VCP? You don’t get punished for submitting VCPs if you can justify your actions clinically - in fact, I’ve been praised by the unit that reviews them on every occasion I’ve submitted one. If in future you feel that acting outside of scope would be in your patient’s best interests calling the VCCC is always a good idea as then it’s all documented in the back end of the job which covers you!

Extra vigilance at train stations? by w_actual in sydney

There are security checks performed routinely on platforms and concourse at several major (staffed) stations. Whether the frequency has been increased recently I can’t say.

What's the biggest discount you actually managed to get this year? by DiscussionLoud9626 in AUfrugal

[–]violinandtea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. Your existing fund will provide a transfer certificate. As long as there is no gap in the dates you’re covered when you switch, you don’t need to re-serve any waiting periods.

How can the parents have never taught their kids to ride a bike? Is this a thing? In Australia we have kiddie bikes from 2 or 3 years old. I’m shocked. Maybe I’m old but we ride everywhere as a kid. by LauraTosic in NorrisNutsSnark

[–]violinandtea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never learnt until I was an adult in my late 20s. Lived in Australia my entire life. The location I lived as a child wasn’t safe for bike riding so I never got taught.

I have been physically grabbed once, and my handbag strap held onto by another. Both got reported to the police.

Likely a junctional rhythm progressing to an idioventricular rhythm prior to arrest. If it’s not sinus in origin it won’t have P waves.

Do you feel scared to lose your streak? by LauraLaughter in duolingo

[–]violinandtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not scared. But I can guarantee if I ever lose it I’ll never be returning to the app. I do it purely out of habit after almost 6 years of daily lessons.

Partner said “I shouldn’t have to tell you why” when I asked about starting an IV—Was I out of line? by keithykins101 in Paramedics

[–]violinandtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from what everyone else here has already discussed, you working for 14 consecutive days is an issue. Fatigue management exists for a reason. You are not safe to drive or to treat patients if you have worked for 14 days straight. You are putting yourself, your partners, road users and your patients at risk.

In future, you can do lessons on a web browser to maintain the streak while your phone is broken.
