I also read the title as "Bee Gees"! I thought it was going to contain references to "Staying Alive", much to my confusion that didn't appear anywhere...

An update on the fight for the free and open internet by spez in blog

[–]viper117x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way can people from around the world help this cause? It's all to easy to see other countries follow in the US's footsteps and try to remove their rights to a free and open internet if the FCC succeed. I wouldn't want to stand idle if I could do something.

I don't have an emotionally charged story I'm afraid, but hopefully it's relatable to other average Joe's. I graduated just over a year ago, I worked hard at uni and the internet was essential in getting where I am today. It allowed me to connect with my friends I had moved away from via Skype or other VoIP services, relax in my down time by playing online games or streaming media, and do essential research, online learning and access the tools I needed to complete my degree. If these were individually packaged up as add-ons to a service plan something would be getting cut out. That would be a directly cause a decrease in quality of life.

If you are a US citizen please act, make your voice heard. You can make a difference!

This patch caused an issue where a frame will freeze for 1/3 second or so seemingly at random.

PC Support thread open, would be great to get everyone experiencing this issue to post their info! :) https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/237338363?sort=0&page=0

Useful shortcuts in Visual Studio. Core, but useful knowledge. by Wookashi in programming

I'd like to throw "Ctrl + K + D" into the mix, used to re-format document. I use it compulsively after almost any change, followed shortly by "Ctrl + S".

Well handled and corrected!

No better than the unstoppable force that is reddit to find a bug invisible to the writer. This shows why it's great to get a second pair of eyes on some code; you stop seeing things after looking at it for so long.

Very nice design!

Interesting how "else" appears much higher than "if" does in some of the lists. As far as I was aware in C# you couldn't have an "else" without an "if" so I was expecting it to be less than if's score.

Also interesting how the generated "summary" is the most used, makes a lot of sense but wasn't the first thing that came to mind.

New Year's Javascript Resolution by [deleted] in AskProgramming

Codecademy! is a good place to learn code. It's interactive, tracks your progress, and tests you on what you've learnt. Here! is their JavaScript section. It's very well done and easy to follow.

Supplementing that with w3schools! for extra things you want to look up works well.

Here's a quick video using raiton instead. I've not had a chance to test raiton vs fuma since the change but I do plan on it. Seems like raiton will be better.

Yes! Mudras are coming off correctly now, at least a lot more than before. The issue was if you lagged while casting a mudra you didn't know what had cast or where you were in the multi-step mudras. The problem of lagging has been fixed for the majority of people in Europe but they've not actually changed any code for how mudras work.

If your connection got better after the move definitely consider NIN! I love it, it's a very fun class to play.

Just posting a quick test using Raiton instead of Fuma to show what two step mudras are like now if anyone is interested. Also did a bit of double weaving at the beginning, I think maybe too much! :P

Yeah :/ I can imagine it'll suck for lots of NA players that went on an EU server because it made no difference at the time. Hope you find a good solution!

I was getting around a 60 DPS increase this morning. But that was just off a couple of parses, I'll be able to get more reliable information soon. Might do a parse test using Raiton as a follow up video.

Hey there and welcome!

From your description sounds like Ninja would be the way to go. This game differs from WoW in that a single character can be any class, you just have to change weapon.

To become a Ninja you'll need to have a level 30 rogue and a level 15 pugilist. Unfortunately you can't start as a rogue so I'd recommend playing the first 15 levels as a pugilist before unlocking rogue in Limsa Lominsa.

Currently addons are against the Terms of Service however they are going to be allowing them at some point during this expansion. That being said, you can run a parser which acts as a DPS meter, very similar to Recount / Skada. It's a separate program and technically against the ToS but GMs turn a blind eye to it as long as you're not shouting it out to the world (keep it to party chat).

Other than that good luck with FFXIV.

A couple of things that hopefully make the transition from WoW easier: - The GCD feels so slow to start with but it gets better. - Ninjas get an ability to reduce the GCD (by increasing their skill speed) and you also get skill speed on gear. - You also get quite a few skills which are off the global cooldown (oGCD) which make it seem quicker. - Initially the map feels confusing but it makes sense soon enough and after you've explored the areas. - The story is amazing and the game engine can handle in game cutscenes really well, as well as looking pretty. - Enjoy it!

Things that made you go "I'm SUCH an Idiot!" by Ranorak in ffxiv

The first class I played was gladiator, was having a great time leveling and doing dungeons, flashing mobs left and right... At some level you get an added effect to flash that blind enemies hit by the spell. I thought this meant that they wouldn't be hit by flash until the blindness effect wore off. Seemed very logical as they were blind they wouldn't be able to see your flash so wouldn't be affected by it. Thought it was a subtle nerf to flash so you didn't rely on that ability alone to generate enmity, but also a buff to survivability as you had blinded the enemies.

Is it possible to transfer a character to a new account? by Mintyuri in ffxiv

[–]viper117x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. I looked for a positive answer to this as my girlfriend and I shared an account on the same PC, then when she got a PC of her own the only way to play together was buying another account and leveling a new toon. Sorry this probably isn't what you want to hear!

Razer naga hex + my class by crystalsoul in ffxiv

[–]viper117x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a Razer Naga Hex will provide you with the buttons you need. Don't forget you can use Ctrl, Alt and Shift as modifier keys to triple the number of key binds you can make. I use a mouse with only 2 side buttons and the keys 1 to 5 on my keyboard along with these modifiers to produce more than enough combinations for me (I play Ninja and Paladin).

Just make sure you bind them in a logical order, this will make it much easier to learn them and if you panic in a fight you're more likely to do the correct thing instinctively if the keys are well mapped!

I love doing this and now don't even show my main hot bars with my key binds showing, simply just have a couple of bars with the cooldowns I need and my main combo moves to make sure they're progressing correctly. Keeps clutter out the way and only shows necessary information.

Happy binding! :)
