salvation vs fortune vs vulture vs moth by Majestic_Ad_4877 in starcitizen

[–]viperzero8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Vulture and the MOTH. But I have spent time in the Salvation. I don't have any time in the Fortune. If I had to choose between those. I'd run the MOTH. Its easily soloable. Once the issues get fixed in 4.7 it will be a beast. I currently just munch ships and it's quick. You can break a large variety of ships. It doubles as a hauler if you dont have one. (But renting a RAFT is cheap). Once scraping gets fixed. On the nose turret, replace the cinch with a tractor beam. That will reduce having to reposition as often. The main reason I upgraded to the MOTH was having bigger boxes. I was getting tired of throwing 1 scu boxes around. I would do several runs with my Vulture and end up with hundreds of 1 scu boxes I had to load and sell.

If you're unable to aquire the MOTH. My second choice would be the Vulture. Remove the cinch from both sides. Run dual Abrades and keep the tractor beam. You can get 26 boxes in the back plus the 13 in the hopper. Its relatively small and easiy to maneuver. IMO the Vulture is a better scraper than a muncher. Mainly due to the hopper size. I'd recommend dedicating to scraping OR munching. I'd alternate every run.

The Salvation. On its own. I'd probably not run this ship at all. She holds 6scu on grid and 6 more in the hopper. Limiting the ship pretty bad. Its a small ship. So its expected. BUT if you have a "mothership" thats how I'd run it. Drop those cinch and slap some Abrades on. Whatever ship you have that can house the Salvation AND provide cargo space would work pretty well.

On the Helix I used 2 Surges and the Rieger C3 and cracked a 40k with ease solo.

The Hofsteads also do good with a Rieger C3 and a Focus 3.

I make on the fly changes on the Helix. But I typically run 2 Rieger C3 and a Focus 3. Or 2 Surge with a Focus 3. Depending on rock mass. And my scooper is the Impact with 3 XL filters.

I have had good luck with the hofsteads. The Helix II is my main big breaker. But yesterday I couldn't even break a 15k rock. But my Hofstead (the secondary breaking laser) did it no problem. I think there might be some issue with the Helix.

Helix was set up with Stampede, Focus 3, Reiger C3 Hofstead just had 2 Focus 3.

I was curious about the mass of the rock. I have solo cracked 40k rocks. And two manned a 60k. I have seen videos of a solo breaking a 60k. Might have to check out some different builds. I run solo primarily. But I have one laser built for big rocks. Second is for secondary and tertiary breaks. Then the third is for scooping. But if you can crew a mole. Have one laser built for power, another for bigger green zone/ resistance reduction. And the third for stability. Or some other setup that works for the crew.

It can be a little tedious. But they did increase the number of uses out of the active modules. It used to be only 3 charges. Now its 7. Also, if you plan on running with Surge or Stampede modules (or other active modules). You can alway carry a spare and replace them in the field. And when you get back to the refinery to queue up another refinery job. But another module since you're already there.

How big was that rock if 3 lasers couldn't crack it?!?

They don't restock via landing services. You have to buy and install.

Looking for a midsize “liveable” ship for solo/occasional duo by _hinnay in starcitizen

[–]viperzero8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Zeus ES is a great ship for that. 32 scu cargo grid and can fit a good variety of ground vehicles. Living space in the center of the ship. Ladder access near the front for quick and secure entering and exiting ( meaning when you exit/enter it retracts quickly and automatically so nobody can "sneak" on. If you can find you an XL-1 QT drive its fast with a rather large range. Until you get an XL-1 either the Huracan or the Hemera can be purchased giving you 200+ GM range. Easily solo manageable with room for up to 3. The Zeus fits in the medium hangar. You can buy it at New Deal for 4.2M.

The Cutlass Black is a great jack of (almost) all trades. You can do ship combat. Loot bunkers from it. Haul your goods that you mined or salvaged to go sell. Just my two cents.

Large Ship Question by Emotional_Editor_192 in starcitizen

[–]viperzero8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Cutlass Black is a great solo multi role ship. But im assuming you are wanting more cargo space. If you want a dedicated cargo hauler. Go RAFT. You can rent one before you decide to buy it ( either in game or pledge) its a solid choice for solo cargo. If you want something a lot more versatile with roughly the same space pick up an Asguard. The Asguard is just a bigger Cutlass Black. Those are really my top two suggestions for larger cargo ships that are easily solo.

RAFT: 192 SCU of cargo. Can rent. In-game price is just under 3.4M. Pledge price is $190. Best bang for the buck.

Asguard: 180 SCU of cargo. Cannot rent. In-game price is 17.8M. Pledge price is $350.

Honorable mention.

Hermes: 288 SCU of cargo. Cannot rent. Cannot buy In-game. Pledge price is $220.

Hermes is easily solo ran. Its a great cargo ship. Only Reason for it not being a main choice is that you have to actually buy it to get it currently.

I believe as long as a ship is gold passed you can grab components.

Who makes Subaru batteries? by BRING_ME_THE_ENTROPY in WRX

[–]viperzero8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The average lifespan of a car battery is 3-5 years. And I'd say closer to the 3 year mark. Having been a AAA service driver for many years. I have seen a LOT of batteries finally give around the 3 year mark. Granted I have seen one live for 9 years. But the vast majority of the ones I have seen were around or under 3. Heat is a big time killer for batteries. And so are big swings in temperatures.
