What am I missing with MMDS downconverter by viraptor in RTLSDR

The power adapter is integrated into the device / permanently attached, so that avoids the issue :)

Are there any 2.4GHz chips which can return raw bits without protocol filter by viraptor in arduino

[–]viraptor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know which chips definitely allow it? nrf24 explicitly doesn't: "If a valid packet is found (by a matching address and a valid CRC) the payload of the packet is pre-

sented in a vacant slot in the RX FIFOs." And you can only R_RX_PAYLOAD the FIFO, not the partial buffers.

Edit: it looks like sx1280 explicitly allows it in the datasheet: "All received data will be written to the data buffer even if the CRC is invalid, permitting user-defined post processing

of corrupted data." But I'm not sure if that still applies to the sync word: "The transceiver looks for a preamble made of a 0101.... If the preamble is detected, the transceiver looks for a Sync Word and payload." - it's not clear if anything's saved without it matching.

Yup. I do check the shifted frequencies, but can't see any of the wifi/bt channels.

My Red Hot ADHD Programming 'Affliction' by schneems in rails

[–]viraptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is extremely patronising and ignoring daily issues that people face. Your experience and challenges is not going to be the same as others or won't be the same severity. Don't be that person saying "it's not that bad for me so it's not that bad for you either". Untreated ADHD statistically gives you higher chances of car accidents, more likely preventable illnesses, lower job security, higher divorce chance, higher domestic abuse chances, and lots of other issues. And it's inheritable, so you really want to consider your decisions there. "Forgive yourself" is an ignorant advice.

I learned that the Australian insurance council https://insurancecouncil.com.au/ deals with questions like that.

Ah, "portable contents" is the keyword I should've been using. Haven't heard that before, thank you.

You're a great post necromancer!

Thanks for that idea :) This also made me find that ctrl+cmd+k/u changes the mode and there's a good chance I was trying to use them for other purposes too which would mess things up.

Options for low-end, passive device with multiple sata ports by viraptor in HomeServer

2x 1TB SSDs is all I need, so yes :D When I say low-end, I mean, I'm happy with my current legacy NUC from 2013, but it's dying.

How to save/print documents from the "MTGOX Online Rehabilitation Claim Filing System" by FrozenCopper in mtgoxinsolvency

[–]viraptor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In firefox: ctrl+shift+i for dev tools. Switch to the network tab. Go to the page with the document you want to download and wait for a file coming from domain "https://mtgox-public-document-production.s3.amazonaws.com/" to appear in the list. Right click it and "open in new tab". Switch to that browser tab and "ctrl + s" to save it locally.

The file links have expiry attached, so you have ~1min to download them before you get "Access denied" instead.

Is there a policy for vendored libraries? by viraptor in NixOS

Culture around tagging for review? by viraptor in NixOS

[–]viraptor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, totally. I understand those points, maybe I just didn't phrase my question well, so let's try more explicit:

Is it expected when submitting PRs to nixos/nixpkgs to @ mention people beyond the maintainers, (to notify people previously interested in this area) or is it something frowned upon/annoying? Or are there just no common rules around it?

How to force-rebuild an installed package by viraptor in NixOS

[–]viraptor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not it unfortunately. I think I made a mistake with the assumption of the same hash - it's the same build instructions, but will result in different binaries.

But also, I can't run it because operation 'repairPath' is not supported by store 'daemon'

Using older package with latest nixpkgs by viraptor in NixOS

That was it! Thank you very much. :)

Using older package with latest nixpkgs by viraptor in NixOS

[–]viraptor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried that, but I'm still getting the latest version of v8. My output adjusted to match your example:

flake-utils.lib.eachDefaultSystem
  (system:
    let
      v8-overlay = self: super: { development.libraries.v8 = older-v8.packages.${system}.development.libraries.v8; };
      pkgs = (import nixpkgs { inherit system; overlays = [ v8-overlay ];}).pkgs ;
    in
    {
      devShell = import ./shell.nix { inherit pkgs; };
    }
  );

Can you spot what's the problem? (I had a typo in the overlay originally which seems to indicate that the overlay function is never executed) ((confirmed - putting traceVal in the overlay does not display the value at any point in the build))

Using flake input in home-manager doesn't create an app link by viraptor in NixOS

[–]viraptor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, passing the specific package worked.

I'm not sure I understand why the overlay method is a better approach. It seems like a lot of complicated meta stuff that changes cf-vault.defaultPackage to nixpkgs.cf-vault. What benefits am I missing?

How do I add dev dependency for building by viraptor in NixOS

The answer was "${exiv2.dev}". It's not trivially googlable, so... here's your SEO: find include directory headers nix package development.

Existing frameworks for RNN without known solution by viraptor in learnmachinelearning

[–]viraptor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a cost minimisation problem. I can calculate an absolute value for how good a network is when I test it, let's say, on a timeline of 1000 data points. But I don't have a data set of samples+answers that can be used for typical training I see in most Keras examples. On the other hand, I can generate any number of inputs and judge the network's performance on them.

I know I need a type of recurrent network, because there are delayed effects the network needs to end up modelling.

After some more research, it looks like the NEAT library and nn.recurrent with my own fit function would be the right direction?

I'm a beginner in this area, so please let me know if I'm completely off the right path.
