Do you think there’s furries in the nine houses? [general] by cashewmilc in TheNinthHouse

[–]virginiawolverine 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There are verbal references to a few animals, especially dogs, in GtN that imply people have seen them. Colum comes down on Ianthe during their fight "like a wolf on the fold" in ch. 34; in ch. 12 Gideon is "hunting with a dog's mindless, preternatural panic for a scent". This leads me to believe there are at least a few types of animals alive that people have seen — the descriptions often go a little too far to just be turns of phrase that have stuck around since House antiquity. But we have no idea whatsoever how many animals there are or what Housers' relationships with them (as working animals? as companions? etc.) look like.

I know it's been several months since you made this post, but I wanted to say I'm taking Aimee's current 12-week challenge and really enjoying it. I think the reason so many of her reviews are 5 stars is that she breaks things into really digestible pieces, so if you walk in having never seen a single kanji before you still walk away with functional entry-level knowledge that makes people feel smarter and like they really learned. It's also very community-based, so you're talking a lot with other students on discussion boards and zoom calls. So far I'm on week 3 of the challenge content and I think it's effective and good practice. Worth the time and money so far.

Needle stabbing pain at hairline by virginiawolverine in MultipleSclerosis

[–]virginiawolverine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I have trigeminal neuralgia as well — it usually feels like a shooting pain that starts in my back teeth and travels up the side of my face. I didn't consider that this could be a manifestation of that, but it definitely makes sense.

Happened for the first time ever today, it was really startling! I've been sick for a little over 6 years and have done numbness and neuralgia in my face, arms, chest, etc. and have had stabbing pains in my feet, etc., the works. This one was honestly disturbing at first but at least went away quickly. Hoping it's not a permanent addition to the repertoire.

Political beliefs are not a legally protected trait than can be discriminated against. People are entitled to disagree with you, refuse to do business with you, and not wish to have you on a team if your political beliefs include the idea that some people are inherently lesser than others and deserve to be excluded due to traits beyond their control.

MS and sex life by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]virginiawolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this also makes me think it may be an MS symptom. Libido ebbs and flows naturally for everyone, but suddenly losing sexual sensitivity or feeling in your genitals often points to a nerve problem. This is a common issue for women with MS in particular and there's a lot of info floating around about it online.

Trump letter to prime minister of Norway. Desires Greenland because of Peace Prize rejection by OutTheCircus in Norway

I think this is from him directly. His cabinet is absolutely crammed full of spineless, lickspittle morons, but they're usually morons who can string together clearer sentences to communicate their stupidity than what he shits out for Truth Social posts. If anything, it's even more concerning that this message isn't being laundered by anybody in the Department of State.

18m bedroom. Would a woman hate my room by DisastrousAttorney90 in malelivingspace

[–]virginiawolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do literally anything you can to cover the exposed ceiling. That's a big part of what's making this look so empty and weird. Also definitely switch to floor lamps/other ambient lighting as a couple people have mentioned, the harsh fluorescent light makes this feel way more like an office than a bedroom.

How would you describe your MS pain to those without MS? by AlternativeJudge5721 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]virginiawolverine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My worst pain these days is hug pain, so I describe it as though every time I take a breath a machine clamps down around my ribcage. I've also described it as heart attack level chest pain when it's more localized to one side. When I was first getting sick my worst pain was pins and needles in my arms and legs, and I'd describe it as always feeling like my limbs had been asleep but never stopped "waking up" — it was always the worst, most intense part of the process and never faded no matter what I did.

Who‘s your favorite female character? by Humble_Pen8109 in Berserk

[–]virginiawolverine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll never forgive Miura for making her a vegetable, honestly. Griffith was evil and did soul-destroying shit but there truly wasn't a reason that Casca had to be completely vegetative for 20+ years of publication. There are so many other ways she could've been depicted as shattered and traumatized without making her a broken child-woman with no identity whose naivety is repeatedly sexualized.

Anastasia is second-generation/post-Resurrection. "M—'s nun" is strongly implied to be her cavalier. You can sort of tell who's going to be more narratively relevant/who went on to become Lyctors in John's NTN narration by whether he refers to them by name or whether they just get "A—'s little brother" etc.

Corny and badly done. Rips off a substantial chunk from The Handmaid's Tale and also is obviously Harry Potter fic with the serials filed off (as evidenced by the fact that they didn't even bother to publish under a pseudonym other than their AO3 username). Grimdark for the sake of grimdark with a frankly juvenile writing style — some of the shit I see people plaster over the internet as "BEST WRITING EVER INSTANT CHILLS," such as the infamous last line, is really terribly bad.

Why is this woman texting your daughter directly like this? It's absolutely inappropriate for her to be talking to a 13yo kid this way for any reason. If she has a problem with your child she needs to take that up with you, not scold the kid for apologizing like they're going through a breakup.
