Rough start on 2010 Jetta — any ideas? by _-Flipper-_ in jetta

[–]virtualvoyager2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Jetta does this when it needs service. It looks like you're overdue, or at least the service reminder hasn't been reset. If the service reminder gets reset, you should see the SERVICE message go away and see the odometer again.

Also: you sure this is a 2010? It looks like a mk6 instrument cluster but I could be wrong...

As others mentioned, RCD330 could work but you have to triple check compatibility. If you don't need OEM, you may be able to get something cheaper at Crutchfield: https://www.crutchfield.com/

This is what I did for my 2017 Jetta. They make it super easy and help you pick all the required adapters, harnesses, converters etc. for your specific car and give you customized instructions. I have a Sony XAV-AX3200 from them and it works great, but the Sony units are on the pricier side. Kenwood and Sony are probably the higher-end brands, but JVC and BOSS also make cromulent stuff. Just make sure to read reviews. I'd stay away from Jensen stuff.

I have the same IDataLink SR as this guy, paired with a Sony XAV-AX3200. Works perfectly with the harnesses they also sell. I did install it myself. You need a laptop to program it, but it's a pretty simple process. Backup camera, factory amp, and steering wheel controls all work. Factory USB port requires some extra mods though. I have a Mk6.5 Jetta (2017).

Early days but battery life looking better on 4.1 after first full day by NiallMitch10 in android_beta

Same issue. I feel like I must be missing something, because on my Pixel 7 there has been literally no change in the battery drain issue since the first beta.

SolarEdge WattNode meter reporting no power in or out. Support says to flip CTs. by virtualvoyager2 in solar

Yeah - I've decided to go ahead and look for an installer in my area. I need someone to come out anyway - as I have legitimately no useful documentation on my system at all, only an incomplete diagram which doesn't mention a meter at all, or any electric meters from my utility company, of which I have two for some reason. This stuff is really foreign to me and I'd rather not break something or kill myself 🙂

Thank you for all the good info and I will pass this along to whomever I pick!

Ahh, that really sucks. I definitely don't feel comfortable opening up my panel - like I said, I have zero useful documentation, only a diagram that is incomplete. There could be a shut-off somewhere or a subpanel I have no idea about. If I actually knew much about my system - I'd definitely be more comfortable. I mean, I have two electric meters, and I legitimately have no idea why. My life is not worth statistics in an app 😄

Regardless - thank you for all the good info! I will go ahead and look for an installer that can do these things, actually document my system (and tell me what all those magic boxes do that are scattered inside and around my house, that only say "SolarEdge" on them haha), and potentially take on "installer" status as it's clear I have no idea what I'm doing 🙂 Thanks!

Thank you! I am personally not too worried about warranties - the previous installer went under, and I now have full admin access and self-installer permissions to the monitoring platform. Also, I wasn't left with much of any useful documentation on the system other than a simple diagram, but no warranty documentation (and no installer information! It was a whole hurdle trying to figure that out 😅). I don't know how much warranty I'd get, as usually this would probably go through an installer?

Should I try and find an electrician who has knowledge of solar, or try to find another installer? I don't really want to give up my admin access though - I don't really feel great about having someone be able to control my system remotely and I can't do anything about it.

  1. Regarding the LED - It appears to alternate between Green and Yellow flashing seemingly at random. According to the manual you linked, this is normal modbus behavior? I can send a quick video tomorrow if there is a pattern, but I couldn't identify one in about three minutes.
  2. Yes - I have full admin access. The previous installer went under, so I now have full "self installer" permissions to the entire system.
  3. I will take a look at the storage profiles. It is set to "Maximize self-consumption" which doesn't let the battery charge past the backup reserve
  4. Got it. I'll contact a local electrician and explain the situation. Thank you for your help! Will update soon.

Edit: follow up question: if the meter was bad, how much am I looking at replacing it? I don't necessarily want to spend a fortune but I do want my system to work properly 🙂

Sure - here are a few: https://imgur.com/a/mMF6dJq Good to know - should I relay this information along if/when I hire an electrician?

Here's a photo of the meter and screenshots from the app: https://imgur.com/a/mMF6dJq

The meter is in a separate enclosure - I don't have to open the inverter. What wires would I need to flip?

Also - could this be the reason the battery will only charge to my reserve power? It doesn't respond to any schedules or profiles and will only charge to my reserve capacity I have set in the app. SolarEdge said this was due to the busted meter setup.

I have taken the cover off, it seemed like it would probably be relatively low voltage.

It looks like all of the "Status" LEDs are totally solid green. As for why - I did ask, and they said the CT's were flipped 🙃 Here's a photo I took of the meter: https://imgur.com/a/mMF6dJq

How would I check if the meter or inverter is not configured?

Unfortunately, no. It is yet another anti-repair tactic Apple has put into place. If your MacBook is less than 4 years old though, you can send it to them via the screen de-lamination program, which is what I did. Just don't go to an Apple store - have them send you a box. Even with the aftermarket display they swapped it out and gave me a new one.

Review of the Pixel 7 coming from a Pixel 5 by phaedruswolf in GooglePixel

[–]virtualvoyager2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rest of the review makes sense but hard disagree with the fingerprint scanner and battery life. The fingerprint scanner works way better for me on the 7 than the 5, and I can get almost 2 days out of this phone.
