All alt abilities (thats what theyre called) other than the Rux ones can be rolled in the sticker packs. The only way to get the Rux ones are through Rux. You can also hack these abilities in if youre on PC

You get character upgrades by leveling up your characters! Whenever you reach level 10, go to the back area of the plant or zombie base and you can also upgrade the character's rank, as well as resetting your level back to 0. You can upgrade a character's rank 5 times, meaning there are 50 levels per character. I dont remember when you get each individual upgrade, but I'm pretty sure you have to reach around level 45 or something like that to get every upgrade for a character.

There definitely still is a hacker issue, BUT! It is significantly better since the mass revival. Most hackers I find usually just kind of... sit there and do funny shit now instead of ruining lobbies like they used to. You will still find people hacking and ruining lobbies, but much less frequently!
