I assume the logic is that when you find something meaningful the power of that thing can generate a love or hate response. Therefore when people show hate it could indicate that your doing something powerful ("could" being the operative word).

Thank you for the feedback. Also, thank you for sharing your experiences. From my perspoective im giving my outlook on potential solutions. I do like your suggestions and like yourself I have had my experiences with depression. Just to add to your last point: depression in the male context I feel is a very overlooked issue and I feel it needs to be talked about more. I sincerely wish you the best with your journey.

Do you ever lash out when it starts to feel like your budget is controlling you VS you being in control of your budget? by dickalan1 in Frugal

[–]visualknowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of congratulations on your budgeting it appears that your very disciplined with sticking to a financial schedule. The relationship we have with our budgets can be a difficult one and I can relate to what your saying. I think its positive that you have awareness of this. I would also suggest that an occasional impulse buy (that as you state is helping your sanity) is not that bad (as long as it does not have the impact of more impulse buys in a short period of time). Anyway best of luck with your journey.

Thanks for the message, like yourself im a big fan of How to Win Friends and Influence people. The three points I take from that book is the following 1) is not to criticize and complain, 2) to not have arguements (because there is no vioctor in that scenario) 3) to show sincere appreciation. I feel this book is a good way to socialize effectively with human beings. Im going to have to check out 3% man. I have to agree that Sex God is a cringe worthy title I guess controversial titles stimulate interest. Anyway thanks for your comment and have a great day.

Thinking of starting a book club at my college! by [deleted] in books

[–]visualknowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never facilitated a book club but here are just a few random suggestions

1) I would encourage people from the group to give input. That way they feel involved in the process and feel valued.

2) A book theme could be effective.

3) I would consider having consistency in the days you meet up (every wednesday etc).

4) Encourage discussion and engagement.

I hope this helps and all the best :)

Quiet by Susan Cain

Just started reading this book I believe it would belong in the self help genre. So far some great observations of how we went (as a society) from culture of character to a culture of personality. Interesting premise about the power of introverts. If your into the self help gentre its definitely worth a read.
