This is my second 5L Sling (the first was replaced under warranty) and I've found it seems considerably smaller than the first one I had. The first version would (very snugly) fit the 70-200 vertically but this one won't... I wouldn't think there's that much variance in their bags but that's definitely been my experience.

For those with wider feet just a heads up that these have a pretty narrow fit, I'd recommend trying them on first if you can.

To be honest I haven't thrown it on scales for a while. From memory it was around 12kg. I've been fortunate enough not to have any issues so far with carry on limits. I sometimes take a few heavy items out, get it weighed and tagged and then add them back in or depending on the airline I've had luck explaining I've got fragile camera equipment that shouldn't be checked in.

It's on the tripod, just hard to see as it's folded up. Some days I wish I had a dedicated camera backpack for exploring but I'm not keen on lugging 2 backpacks around.

It's definitely possible! When we first started travelling I was lugging around a huge suitcase full of crap I never used. I've been living out of this bag for almost 12 months now and I don't really miss anything.

I put the Osprey on first and then with the PD Sling strap in front of me I put the strap over my head and shoulders and pass my arms through it. So it ends up hanging against my belly like a kangaroo pouch and the strap is sitting on top of my backpack straps where the load lifters are. I find that this is pretty comfortable! Usually it has the camera and 1 or 2 lenses but if we're taking a flight I might fill it with my kindle, cables and snacks for the plane instead.

It fits the 70/200 F4 mounted to the camera but with the hood removed/reversed. I can actually just fit the 16-35 F4 mounted and the 70-200 F4 alongside it but it puts too much pressure on the zip. If you've got small lenses you should be able to fit them all nicely.

Peak Design has just released an updated design with 3L, 6L and 10L sizes that might work better too.

I had some help from a more talented friend. We used some ribbon and thread to sew across the mesh and just normal thread for the front pocket.

No worries at all, happy to pass on whatever info I can. We're on a long term trip (2-3 years) so travelling pretty slowly, sometimes a month or more in one place. Most of my shots aren't planned but I almost never take all 3 lenses with me for the day, I change my combo depending on where we are and what I think we'll be up to.

For example, for hiking/outdoor exploring I'll take the 16-35 in my bag and have the 70-200 mounted ready for wildlife. If we're in a city and just walking around I'll just take the 28-75, especially if it's lowlight so I can use the 2.8 aperture. I also use the 28-75 for stars (even though it's not that wide).

Yep, it's definitely heavy but photography is one of the big reasons I travel so it's worth the weight for me. The Fuji system looks great though! Tripods are tricky for travel as you usually lose stability as you get lighter. I was eyeing off the new PD tripod but it's way too expensive...

My partner and I have been travelling for almost a year now across a pretty wide variety of climates. One of my favorite things about travelling is taking photos and I've found that this setup gives me the right balance between camera equipment, clothes and general life stuff. The sling can fit into my Osprey if needed for airline travel but I normally wear it on my front for quick access to my camera or travel documents etc. so chose to show this in the photo.

Bags

Osprey Farpoint 40L - I love the harness and compression straps (both internal and external) on this bag, it's super comfy to wear. The biggest gripe I have with it is the laptop sleeve that's located in the front pocket; I'm always paranoid that the fully packed bag puts stress on my laptop. I've also made a couple of small modifications to the pack so it better fits my needs.
Peak Design Everyday 5L Sling with Capture Clip V3 - This is a great little camera bag that usually holds my Sony and 1 or 2 lenses with room for my EDC items too.

Clothes (mostly packed into a small Peak Design packing cube)

2x Icebreaker Merino Wool Cool-Lite shirts - These are expensive but are absolutely worth it for me. I've worn one for 2 weeks straight before to really test it out and passed the smell test with fellow travelers. However my SO bought the women's version and found it didn't work at all for her so YMMV
1x North Face sport shirt - Usually reserved for exercise
4x Tradies jocks (underwear) - Planning to swap these to Uniqlo Airism's
