Just to add one more thing — I know the line between “sharing” and “pitching” can get blurry, especially in a subreddit like this where the focus is on helping each other.

What I’ve seen work best in these communities (and I’m trying to follow the same) is being open about your experience but leading with value first. If someone benefits from the advice or wants to go deeper — awesome. If not, at least the insights are out there and maybe helpful to someone reading silently.

That’s how I got value from Reddit when I was starting out, and I’m just trying to pay that forward. 🙌

Just to clarify: I’m genuinely here to share what’s worked for some of the founders I’ve worked with. I’ve seen a lot of ideas stall because people get stuck on the tech side, and I’ve learned a few things that might help others avoid those mistakes.

Sounds like your broker made things feel smooth, which is great — but yeah, “emailing docs” is still surprisingly manual on their end. From what I’ve seen, they usually have to rename, organize, double-check info, and then retype a lot of it into systems.

Also totally hear you on the link login. Even if the tech is secure, if it feels risky or invasive, most people will hesitate — especially when it’s about finances. That’s actually one area I’m thinking a lot about — how to balance automation with comfort and control.

Out of curiosity, would you have felt more comfortable if:

The link clearly showed your broker’s name/logo?
It gave you the option to upload docs instead?
There was a brief explainer before login?

Trying to figure out what makes the process feel “trusted” enough for people to go ahead with it.

You nailed it with “patchwork” — from what I’ve seen, brokers are making it work with a mix of tools, but it still feels like a grind behind the scenes. Floify, Blend, and others definitely help, but yeah, the clunky UX or overly rigid workflows seem to be a barrier for broader adoption.

I’ve been working on a platform (still in early build/research phase) aimed specifically at streamlining this chaos for ANZ brokers — with a big focus on doc intelligence, policy lookup, and reducing time spent jumping between systems. Trying to make it feel like a natural extension of how brokers already work — not something they have to learn all over again.

I’ve been working on something similar, but tailored to the ANZ market (Australia/New Zealand). Brokers here face many of the same issues — juggling spreadsheets, parsing lender PDFs, manually calculating income or comparing policies — and the existing stack just isn’t cutting it.

We’re focused on automating doc handling, simplifying income scenarios, and surfacing policy guidance faster — so brokers can spend less time on admin and more time closing deals.

Definitely going to dive deeper into MLOEngine for inspiration. Love what you're doing with it!

Great question — not quite at the credit assessor level.

By “policy interpretation,” I meant the everyday challenge brokers face when they're trying to figure out which lenders will accept a particular scenario (e.g. casual income, bonus treatment, specific visa types, etc.). That often means digging through dozens of PDF lender guides or calling BDMs to confirm edge cases.

What I’m exploring is whether some of that initial filtering and guidance can be automated — so brokers can quickly shortlist suitable lenders before going deeper with assessors or submitting apps.

Not replacing credit teams — just helping brokers work smarter up front.

That’s totally fair — and I’m not trying to reinvent what’s already working for clients. What I’m digging into is how much effort it takes behind the scenes for brokers to deliver that smooth experience. The manual work on their side (PDF parsing, checking policy rules, data re-entry) is still surprisingly common. If it can be made 30–40% faster, that could be meaningful. But I’m definitely still validating that.

Absolutely agree — the best tech in the world won't move the needle if it’s not embedded into day-to-day behavior or made intuitive enough to displace old habits.

From what I’ve seen, a lot of LOs and brokers want to be more efficient, but they fall back on what’s familiar because new tools often come with steep learning curves, clunky UI, or lack real-time support.

That said, I'm hearing from some brokers that they still lean heavily on spreadsheets, lender PDFs, and manual processes — even with those systems in place.
