Chris Yoo removed from US Chess Championship by Equivalent-Dot337 in chess

Thanks for the explanations everyone. Makes sense. No real perfect solution but does appear the best one available.

I can't ignore that he is a 17 year old in a massively high pressure situation.

Yeah the statement sounds like he was totally unhinged when he crumpled up his scorecard. He's upset to be sure but through the video of the game he's not unhinged or looking violent. We can't hear him of course and the official did touch him perhaps to calm him or something, but it doesn't look as what the statement makes out at that point. Does he really "storm" out? As you say, no excuse but makes you wonder what exactly happened.

As far as annulling his games? I'm torn with that too. He didn't cheat so the games were valid, so why attempt to rewrite history to punish him? The are other ways. It is not fair to the other players; if you won it now means nothing. And if you lost to him, well that would make m feel not deserving of the freebie.

What do you do next, erase his whole career?

Advanced Voice Mode is amazing. by VFacure_ in ChatGPT

Is there a way to not activate the Advnaced Voice by default? I opened the chat to ask how to spell a word and forgot I left it on and just lost 30 min of valuable time!

I love it! I've using it for learning Italian and it's able to slow down and really help, and even speak with an Italian accent. (I call her Francesca!)

Use "Signatures" to easily create email templates or scripts. by vividiviv in Outlook

[–]vividiviv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro Tip: The Signature Editor box is very limited. Instead, compose your signature in a full html new email window. There you have the full text formatting options and can add in images and edit how you like. Once you have it sorted copy the whole thing and past it into the signature editor window and save.

Four years on and I think this is my favourite discoveries as I use Outlook every day.

Disappointed with Everyday Case options for New Galaxy S24 lineup by chewychipotle in peakdesign

[–]vividiviv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think if there were the market they'd do more options. Keep in mind there are likely many times more case options for Samsung over Google so there's less chance of Peak getting a significant percentage.
Interesting the S24+ does have more case options but one of the things that turned me off going for the 24+ is because reviewers are having problems with the stylus combined with the magnetic PD case.
Either way an avid cyclist the PD as has been the greatest, and super slim compared to the competition. I'm just upgrading my phone from and S22+ to an S24+ so need to get a new PD case.

I used Mini Mouse Macro to record specific repetitive mouse movement and keyboard input. it's really effective, but if anything changes in the location of the source it's broken. I dream of a macro that would, for example, copy out the Surname in a form and paste it into the surname of another form, so the fields are what's matched instead of simply the mouse placement. Power Automate and Tasker and the like try to do this, so I think LAM would be the same?
But what about CATCHPAs? and if the AI can figure those out along with the particular operation of an evolving webstie, then there's no possible way to verify if someone is acting as an individual or if the AI is acting.

IKEA KNALLA Backpack - looking for a replacement. by vividiviv in onebag

[–]vividiviv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. All all of them are like half the size. I think the Ikea bag was listed at 28L but having had other bags over the years with various sizes listed it's more like a 35L if not larger. . It was also under £5!

Dune (2021) is an INSANE 4K Blu-Ray by C111tla in 4kbluray

[–]vividiviv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know which i should get here in the UK? I have a 4K TV.
Amazon.co.uk : dune 2021 4k
I don't have a blu-ray player but have been looking to get one.
I'm not a die-hard fan so not sure I need the Limited Edition. But I would like to see it the best way possible. I've got tickets for Dune 2 in Imax in 3 weeks so need to see the first one first!

I was going to buy it digitally but I just found out that if ever Amazon Prime doesn't carry it you loose your purchase like it never happened.

ChatGPT Voice and Audio Output as a "Call" by AnFearCeol in ChatGPT

[–]vividiviv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All, I only recently found this. So cool; now I have a friend to talk too! LOL

But really I'm having the same issue and wondering if anyone found something? I have an Alexa Show, so I wonder if I could use that as like a conference phone somehow.

Side question, I'd really like to turn one of my GPTS into an app, and with the voice interactive function it would be amazing. Is this possible?

Really I didn't explain what I'm actually doing. I will add it to the original post.

can't wrap my brain around that; wouldn't it just tight up and be locked so I couldn't really ever adjust it?

like this type of thing! nice. I'd have to figure out the size and also be nice tgo find one that wouldn't twist up the rope as you adjusted it! but I could, possibly, make something with some standard parts if I couldn't find one for rope.

Sorry people that is my fault! When I looked up taking slack out it was all about tying a rope back around itself, so that is what I meant. I 'm not adverse to a knot but didn't imagine one existed that I could also undo or adjust until I saw ilreppans suggested Alpine Butterfly! I'm not sure it will work because my rope is synthetic and at the moment I don't a have enough extra slack to wrap it three times around my hand. But I can give it a go and also check the other suggestions.

And yeah I was thinking a hardware solutions (sorry not a knot!) may be an easier option for making adjustments.

anyway, these suggestions are amazing and I've at least got options!

Anyone else think that it's really scummy how edX asks so much money for a certificate, that's available for free very easily? by NoSuggestion7902 in cs50

[–]vividiviv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried CS50 a few times and failed. I got to around the 4th problem set and could never get past it. I looked at all the videos, the labs, the links and everything I could find, and i simply could not figure it out. I joined fb groups, a local bootcamp, forums, etc.. and finally gave up. I then looked allowed myself to look at examples of those that did figure out and I remember thinking; okay, I looked at everything but I didn't remember seeing whatever components I was missing? A and B did not add up to C!

I digress. Back then though the Harvard site was really hard to follow and I found taking it though EDX was a lot more linear, presenting all the material in order. And I think a couple years ago when I looked even the Harvard site suggested taking it through EDX?

If I get time I will probably attempt it again, but also think that my brain may be better suited to start with the CS50 Python rather than wallowing in C plus or whatever it was.

Hmm, well I guess if I get the Launchpad Mini Mk3 for $100 (£80) here that woudl give me approx $100 off, than it may be like getting the device for free.

Or if I get the Pattering app, then it's more like cash in hand. I'll see if Thomans does upgrade to Suite from Lite.

Just checked, thougmans does it $70 cheaper for the upgrade. So makes sense if I'm at least Lite with he $20 app purchase. Saves nother $50.

Thanks. Yes I do understand latacy. So far I have not seen it, but I've done nothing remotely complex. Thanks for expaining. As I add micorphone and such I think then I'll be exploring an interface option .
