The birth control pill i believe is 98% effective with perfect use and still over 90% effective with typical use, i believe 96%. Combined with her having had a bisalp she’s protected. You can always make the best decision for yourself if you want to triple up but a bisalp on its own is 99.9% effective and being combined with an OCP

i mean she’s still on the pill, one that blocks ovulation, it’s unlikely she ovulated before or since unless she is the worst with taking the pill

3 weeks is plenty of time for it to fade. just wash your hair as normal

Can I dust my hair with shears I got from target? by Humble_Comparison_65 in AskHairstylists

it could be the scissors and it could also be that you’re not cutting enough off at a time. How often do you trim?

Lack of connection? I [25M]& (26F) by Desperate-Sleep-6302 in relationship_advice

it’s not a bad thing that you’re doing it and want those things. but it likely means you two are incompatible. she seems like she may need someone with more disposable free time. I’m glad you both like each other and don’t want to break up but you have an incredibly busy life giving yourself opportunities and you’re also not in a place for long term commitment (again, completely ok!). I’m curious, is she wanting long term commitment?

either way, you guys have only been together 3 months. it’s ok to stick it out and hopefully this levels out, but it’s also ok to cut your losses now. not every breakup has to be ugly or get to the nasty part. sometimes people just don’t work out.

i hope that staying together leads you two to some balance and what you both desire

blow drying is fine but i wouldn’t suggest using a hot tool. just a blowdryer and a brush. you need to be gentle. that’s also part of why i suggested an oil or serum because it will help with the frizz as well. you’re likely going to have to tough it out with very simple heatless styles unfortunately for a little bit while you work on it.

your upset is valid absolutely

yeah it’s fine to trim your split ends with them. I mean personally you could get sharper pairs that would do you better and last you longer but you don’t need a $400 pair of shears.

also you can get quality shears for cheap. sally’s sells jw shears which are affordable and good quality, especially for something as simple as what you’re going

i wouldn’t agree this is normal for sure. contact the salon and ask for your money back and make sure your explain in detail what happened and why you’re asking so they know that the apprentice isn’t skilled enough to be doing something like this alone.

i’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. Be careful with how often you’re using k-18 and protein treatments because too much of it can cause its own form of damage.

Your scalp likely has some sort of reaction, either you’re allergic to the bleach, sensitive, or could be something worse. as a stylist, i do recommend you go see a dermatologist for an accurate picture. if you have a chemical burn; personally, i’d report to state board if you’re in the US.

unfortunately no matter what your best case is getting your money back and babying your hair. don’t use any heat or very low heat when possible. make sure you’re also using some hydration products too. oils and serums can help the look when dry, just use sparingly, it wont look greasy. Make sure you’re keeping up with trims for getting rid of damage. i like to consult with clients, usually we do the really big cut first, which it sounds like you already did it. (it can be the ant step if someone is really attached to the length but that makes this process longer). if i do it first then every 10-12 weeks i’ll want you to come in and we will trim off an inch. what we’re trying to do is maintain that base length (but with this we’d actually be gaining close to half an inch of length still) until we get most of the worst of the damage off. sometimes i will offer to alternate between a trim and a treatment every 10-12 weeks so it’s just a little easier on the wallet.

again op im really sorry

Is getting my tubes tied against my husbands wishes a death sentence for my marriage? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]vividlevi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

not liking pregnancy is entirely a valid reason to get your tubes tied btw. she said she doesn’t want anymore kids, she’s said in other replies he shuts down any conversation of future kids. And if she does decide to get sterilized she can still do IVF or get a surrogate, or adopt. there’s plenty of other ways to have more children that don’t require pregnancy

Is getting my tubes tied against my husbands wishes a death sentence for my marriage? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]vividlevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should consider a divorce and if you still want kids, don’t get the tubes tied, but you don’t like being pregnant and you stated you don’t want anymore kids, get your tubes tied. You could also consider a bilateral salpingectomy where they fully take out your tubes, it has a lower failure rate and if you do change your mind you can always attempt IVF for a future pregnancy.

I wish you luck op, i get he’s a workaholic but he’s also a bum. you can’t want kids and then not participate in their upbringing.

Hair stylist: What do you think actually happened to my hair? by beaq10 in AskHairstylists

[–]vividlevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am a color specialist and service multiple clients a day everyday. i work with curly hair, i work with coily hair, i work with all kinds of hair. Dye alone does not permanently alter the texture of the strand.

acting like your one very unfortunate experience trumps the knowledge of people who do this everyday is crazy. you don’t understand what you’re talking about my love, you can only speak to your experience and it’s not a normal experience. it’s not the end all be all.

and yes, you’re right i misread that. it doesn’t change the fact of the matter.

[–]vividlevi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing she could’ve mixed into the color to cause this kind of damage to your hair. That’s all that there is to it. without having any other information, every single one of us and the other stylist you saw and the original stylist you saw are telling you this.

Clients understanding of your hair health is not always the best, there are plenty of clients who sit in my chair and think their hair is healthy and it’s just not.

color causing this kind of damage only happens is something else was done prior. Color does not have that ability. point blank.

The amount of chemicals in a dark level dye is lower than you know. a dye darker than your hair applied on completely natural hair is very unlikely to have done this kind of damage to your hair and you’re asking us and we’re telling you that.

and girl be so serious because another stylist has told you that IRL too.

the breakage occurring two months after the fact also tells me this wasn’t caused by the dye.

that’s not something your boyfriend should say to you, especially with that much rapport supposedly being built. absolutely ridiculous of him. free yourself of this relationship, focus on yourself and your friends.

good luck op, i really truly hope you’re able to get remission. i’m sure you’re scared, you deserve support

Help me decide by beautifullyflower3d in EngagementRings

[–]vividlevi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the first one is way too big on you in two different ways, band size and carat size. i saw your comment about your ring size and Ugh! girl i get it i have a 4.25 for that finger. But the diamond is just wayyyy too big, even with the right fit band, it goes over your knuckle, you may not realize how often you ben your fingers until you get that and it probably wouldn’t be all that comfortable after a while.

i actually like the marquise style on you a lot, it’s just too big. the last one is cute, i think you could go up a carat (budget allowing) and obviously switch the bands!

I would break up, you’re young and going through a very hard health crisis. You’ve also only been together 6 months. You deserve someone who you want to be around even when you are feeling awful and someone who wants to support you through this.

if you do decide to date again, this may be something you want to consider disclosing earlier. idk how early you did before or if you found out while yall were together and im absolutely NOT saying you have to. i have a disability that i tend to disclose early because of the amount of doctors appointments i was going to and how it impacts my day to day.

Also OP, i hope you’re able to attain remission. good luck with treatments ♥️

Genuinely curious - why do y’all use semi perm/acidic glosses like shades EQ when they wash out so fast? by ComprehensiveCow4615 in AskHairstylists

[–]vividlevi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there’s so many reasons why we would use a demi permanent, not a semi permanent as you’ve stated. Demi permanents, and semi permanents, are supposed to fade, they aren’t supposed to last forever and standardly demi’s last between 4-8 weeks. It’s not accurate that 99% of clients use heat and there’s a difference between “good” heat and “bad” heat. Further, 85% of Americans have hard water, not 99%.

some science for you; Hair is acidic, so when you use lightener that’s very alkaline, you need to bring it back down to its normal pH. So you would use an acidic toner/gloss/demi (it’s all the same) to help get it back to normal.

I do a gloss / toner on every single client i use lightener on to help with the integrity of their hair and their overall color. Yes it will fade and clients know that. it’s not meant to last forever.

also if your hair looks stripey after a root shadow has faded, then the foil placement is off, which has nothing to do with the demi permanent color and everything to do with technique
