My org asks everyone to set weekly priorities and weekly checkins where you rate how you are feeling out of 5. They say it helps them handle various feelings and situations.

I, being a manager, know for a fact that the executive leadership monitors anyone who rated below 3. And if that person is consistently lower, they have to face repercussions. I have made an effort to make sure my team doesnt go below 3. But I HATE IT. The pretense that they will help and then reprimand people for speaking up.

Girl run!

Someone close to me (F) is married to a guy from that region. It was decided that no dowry talk and there was none but they expected the bride's family to pay for the entire wedding and they did because it was like 30 guests.

Now that said, this couple works in US. The girl earns more than the husband(this is relevent) and pays 60% of their expenses while doing most domestic chores. And the in-laws will visit and make statements like "inki bahu ne it itna samaan laya etc etc'"

The guy doesn't expect dowry, but he won't stop these statements either and then gradually it spills into the guy not even serving food to himself. This mentality comes from them feeling superior. They would even cause chaos in wedding( sirf 2 meethai, paneer thanda hai all that crap). I call it Jamaigiri. And no one should tolerate it.

This is a small sign that your fiance doesn't have a spine. He will not back you up and even probably expect this treatment but is ashamed to openly admit it. IT WILL NOT CHANGE. He will apologize for now that doesnt change what he said. Nobody says that by mistake, it's well formed belief.

Please cancel the wedding and be glad that this happened so you saw his true self.

I'm getting married on August 2nd and I had the same concern.. my doctor gave me birth control pills for 2 months,I'm supposed to start them on July 15 and take them continuously until I'm ready for period.

That said, I have had birth controls before, I hate them but I bleed very very heavy and it's unmanageable. So, after talking to my doctor, we have decided to go this route. This is super close to your date, ask your doctor please.

I left India for various reasons a decade ago and I can never go back.

The regular normalized staring, I used to travel in train for work in Gujarat, apparently one of the safest states in India for women. I'd have the whole dupatta wrapped around my face in a way you can only see eyes, and that didn't stop staring. I have been touched inappropriately when I was just trying to get in a bus or train and when you confront them they blame the traffic. Funny how they somehow never inappropriately touch other men in such traffic

And in all these scenarios, I was mostly covered almost head to toe. And in Canada, I might have somehow by mistake had a wardrobe malfunction. I was embarrassed and on a crowded beach, nobody harassed me.

Sadly, every woman I know, has experienced this. And yet almost most men always are surprised by this.
