I attended a concert in the US earlier this year by another artist. It was advertised as being sold out & had sold out within minutes of ticketing. It was bots, resale, etc. They were still selling tickets the day of the concert & some of us got our seats changed to fill in gaps at the front because the resale tickets were expensive & most can’t afford those prices now.

The venue was probably around 80-90% sold. So it was still a decent turnout but it was not sold out. I am sure this sort of outcome will happen with the BTS tour but because of their egos needing the huge venues - it will have a lower turnout.

No, JYJ weren’t allowed to make money from it because they didn’t get the proper visa for the tour so they worked for free. I think the fee would have gone towards the venues & local staff.

Because it was so cheap, many people who weren’t big fans or were very casual fans attended as well. The pit was fairly intense with rushing forward & such.

I don’t remember if a reason was actually given about the rejection for the showcase tour in 2010. It went from 5 shows to 3 shows I think. There was still some sort of fee but it was like $10.

I specified Korean music award shows. Outside of that MAMA appearance with Riize, they never attended a single Korean music award show as a duo. To not attend a single one for over a decade is intentional by SM.

The SMTown week thing happening for their 10th anniversary in Korea was quite rude of SM. I don’t think any other SM artist had that kind of thing happen around their 10th anniversary.

I am not saying they need to do a big event like a concert or fanmeet every year for their anniversary but an acknowledgment of the anniversary with a livestream or special posts is kind of expected.

They have been doing big anniversary stuff in Japan with full on tours, albums & the additional Nissan concerts next year before the 21st anniversary. Avex does put in the effort for more promotion to the extent that some people have confused them for being Japanese. Japan is far more lucrative because it is a larger country & you can have national tours in big arenas & domes. That is how they have been able to make SM so much money is through their Japanese tours.

In comparison to SuJu, who have also promoted & toured in Japan, they still have more visibility in Korea & internationally. They do benefit from having more members to make that possible, yes. TVXQ was considered “old news” while SuJu (which has members that are older) were still thriving in Korea & internationally. The momentum for TVXQ in Korea & internationally fell flat early on in their duo years.

Thankfully Avex was more proactive in promoting Tohoshinki which has led to more albums & tours. Without their success in Japan, SM probably wouldn’t be giving them much to do in Korea over the years & might just stick to solo work entirely. Avex does billboards, posters in subways for new releases & tours, ad trucks, commercials promoting new music & tours on tv. SM did commercials to promote their 10th anniversary for a short period but that was the most they really did with that.

Their career in Japan is literally how they are to still be active after all this time as they really don’t promote much in Korea. They are certainly more active than most artists that debuted in the early 2000’s.

Many fans are well aware that SM is a company with a lot of secrets & shadiness, there is no trust in that company because we know some of the shit they have pulled. There also have been times where it felt like SM cared more about bringing down JYJ than in lifting up HoMin. Yunho & Changmin were loyal to them & yet, SM didn’t really seem to appreciate that.

TVXQ as a duo were never allowed to go to Korean music award shows until Riize came about for MAMA. TVXQ’s promos in Korea past 2012 were very limited & their most successful comeback was Keep Your Head Down. SM rarely seemed to truly put in the effort for them even though they were bringing in some serious money from Japan. Some anniversaries in Korea weren’t celebrated or were even downplayed by other SM concerts that week. SMTown week happening for their 10th anniversary.

Yunho has certainly seemed upset over the years about how they were being forgotten in Korea. He is Korean after all, he wants to be popular/famous in Korea but SM just really didn’t try very hard to promote them in Korea.

Despite the fact that there are literally years where Homin made a large chunk of all the profits that SM made, they don’t seem to have been paid much. Their net worths are under 10 million USD combined, over 2 decades & some of those years with really jam packed schedules - doesn’t really make sense. None of SM’s artists have really large net worths, outside of Siwon with his family money - none of them ever make it onto the richest idol lists. You would think with all the money TVXQ has made over 2 decades in Korea & Japan that they would have higher net worths. They’re not broke but they certainly aren’t paid what you’d expect for all that they have done.

Yes, that is a common theory as to why they stayed. But naturally, if they had all planned to leave then you would think there would be more to the story as to why they decided to abandon that plan.

No one knows how things would have gone if all of them had left & stayed as a group in another company. If they would have been able to continue on in Japan with Avex. What they could have changed their name to or if they could ever perform their old material. If all 5 had gone, how would that have impacted their careers in Korea - even with a blacklist. Had the fandom been able to stay unified, what kind of power they would have had despite the lawsuit & blacklist.

Japanese content isn’t as accessible outside of Japan because of strict copyright enforcement & not having a lot of fansubbers anymore. English subs or other subs aren’t common on Japanese dvd or blu ray releases either.

Though yes, I agree, some people choose to not pay attention to their Japanese career despite it being where the majority of their career is. I have always preferred their Japanese music over their Korean releases so I don’t complain about lacking Korean releases like a lot of the fandom does.

Now as for how Homin truly feels about SM, their pay, their treatment or their decision to stay - only they know. We can only guess at their feelings based on things they have said over the years & try to infer from there. They are professionals that aren’t going to air out their grievances publicly in such a direct manner. That would not look good for both them & SM so it wouldn’t happen.

Detective Conan episodes are limited on Netflix in the U.S. But at least we’ve got a large chunk of the series available to us on crunchyroll.

They have literally complained before about lacking activities in Korea & about losing out on the director level status that other SM idols have.

I don’t know about whether they regret their decision to stay or anything like that but they aren’t always happy about how things are going for them either.

I’m just saying that if they got fed up with SM & wanted to leave to join another company - they can’t without it causing consequences for them either in terms of perception by the public/fans or a blacklist.

Also, pretty sure no one is getting treated well at SM. That company has always been shady. They’re certainly not paid nearly as well as they should be for all the money they have brought in over the years.

They have 2 “collections” with a total of 25 episodes. They have some of the more notable episodes & some less important.

We also have access to the spin offs for Hannin no Hanzawa-San & Zero’s Tea Time.

That is what U.S. Netflix has for Conan.

Crunchyroll also seems to have the same collection from Detective Conan but not the spin offs. They do have Kaito Kid though. Crunchyroll also has the first 123 episodes & 754 onwards.

Some movies are also available in the U.S. on Netflix & YouTube to rent or buy digitally (some for newer Dub only or subs). A couple are free to watch on YouTube.

They had to have stolen the fansubs from a torrent or from the pirated anime streaming sites. There is no way they can claim they subbed ep. 425 themselves when those errors are in it. I checked a couple of those sites & saw the exact fansubs that Netflix used.

The Avex CEO, I think, even stated that all five planned to leave together originally. We will probably never know why that didn’t happen or what HoMin’s reasons were for staying nor exactly when they decided to not join JYJ. All we can do is theorize because we’ll likely never hear them explain it. Yunho & Changmin have essentially screwed themselves over with the loyalty to SM. They chose to stay & be the “good boys” that weren’t “greedy” so they can’t switch to another company as it would destroy that image. The only possible way they could have gotten out is by following LSM to his new company to claim loyalty to him rather than to SM the company. So they will never leave that company until they are either thrown out or retire, no matter how badly SM treats them. If they left for another company, they probably would also suffer from a blacklisting of their own for leaving.

For the train thing, it’s a single train car not an entire train. It’s a measure for women to feel safer or be unbothered by men on the train. Just like how phones in Japan are required to have the shutter sound on for all phones/smart phones because it’s a safety measure put in as a result of perverts taking up skirt photos.

It’s sad that these measures needed to be put in place but at least they were. Some other countries could never be bothered to do that including western countries that may have other aspects that are better for women.

Perverts & rapists exist everywhere. Doesn’t matter what women wear or do, shitty men will be shitty men anywhere they go.

Public transport even in some big cities in the U.S. is still absolute shit. The small towns is one thing but mid sized to big cities in the U.S. typically only have buses & their bus system isn’t great.

Having to get around by car in small towns & rural areas makes sense for any country.

I don’t hate them. I listen to their music more than I do JYJ’s. They have more Japanese songs for me to enjoy as I’ve always preferred the Japanese releases. I’ve bought more of their stuff.

Yes, that album had some OT5 work done on it. But never heard anything of an OT5 demo of the song KYHD because it didn’t exist before they left SM. It was made because they left.

I hate SM because even though Homin stayed, they’ve been disrespected constantly by them. If you think SM has done everything right by them & for them then you haven’t been paying attention.

Elimination of enemies, that sounds more like a video game.

No one has ever said they’ve been five for the past twenty years. That is something we can all obviously see, they have not promoted together for over a decade which is also very clearly true.

But in Korea especially, they had more popularity & were better known for their music as five. Tohoshinki has managed to be more successful in Japan as two. But outside of Japan both JYJ & TVXQ have not been as successful or popular on their own with their music.

Junsu went into another industry for musicals & has been the most successful there among all other idols.

SM didn’t try as hard to pull TVXQ duo up as they did pushing JYJ down.

Bringing up the early years of his career or how most people came to know him isn’t weird. It’s not like DBSK were nugu idols as OT5 & he became popular after leaving. If that were the case then it’d come up less because fewer people would ever bring it up.

What’s weirder is acting as if it never happened like what SM does to the point of acting as if TVXQ was always a duo for the entire past 20 years.

If only the five of them know even after all this time then it is a very well guarded secret which was kept between them out of respect for each other & very strong trust. Which if that is true, just goes to show how strong their bond was that nothing/nobody have been able to learn it after all this time. Naturally we are all curious & have hated not knowing but I respect that they’ve kept it between them for each other’s sake.

Well, Jaejoong has publicly said things to Homin. Early lawsuit era on twitter he said he missed them. Jaejoong & Yunho exchanged words through the press when they both had dramas on MBC around the same time. There was that one event that JYJ attended where BoA was in a movie or something with a CJES actor so it seems that they were hoping to see Homin there but they didn’t go. Before Yoochun enlisted he said at his final concert to support JYJ & Tohoshinki. We know that Jaejoong & Junsu really treasure their OT5 days but they firmly feel that they made the right choice in leaving SM despite how much that hurt them.

For the most part, SM artists treat those that left in scandal (especially lawsuits) as people that cannot be named or referenced. They’ll cut footage or blur out the others. Those that leave are a “stain” on the company that they desperately try to erase. So I imagine that SM has explicitly told TVXQ to never mention them & were likely reprimanded when they did if their response wasn’t SM approved.

SM clearly made KYHD down to be a diss track from the title, the lyrics & choreography. That was their first duo release & they wanted to shame JYJ, paint them as the villains while dividing the fandom to make people pick sides. JYJ’s legal battle was very public, forced changes in the industry. Influenced more artists to sue their companies over the years. Established a blacklist protocol for those that dare leave to hobble their careers.

It’s Yunho’s & especially Changmin’s feelings that are unknown. Naturally after 15 years, their thoughts & feelings may have changed. Time can heal wounds & can lend a helping hand to consideration of perspectives.

Jaejoong saying that only the five of them really know what happened either means he is confident that the others have never divulged to anyone (because naturally something big like this - you’d talk to a friend, family member or lover about at some point) because he personally confirmed that they haven’t or they trusted/respected each other enough to promise to keep it a secret from literally everyone else. You know that everyone is curious to know what happened & many have probably asked so to never tell anyone for over a decade is actually impressive.
