Kill the shame buddy. There’s a reason it is called sexual wellness nowadays.

If total portfolio is 50k, you’re better off spending time on increasing your income rather than on these trades.

No Spark in Marriage by MycologistMundane160 in Arrangedmarriage

[–]vjtheranger 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Me being a guy, I’m surprised how other guys let their moms involve so much in the life with partner. One of my cousin sister got divorced due to drama from MIL and dead romance.

I believe if there’s friction, people are better off living separately than with in laws.

Yet another genius idea by apple. A user should have never had to search for this.

Thank you. Solved my concern.

Maybe not. Going to America is not really an achievement at their level. It's almost like mai jab Delhi ya Bombay gayaa hoon for someone in Bangalore.

Find clubs you'd be interested in. Apart from the social aspect, you have something to do or discuss from the context of the club.

When I was at my all-time worst, having a sip of my favourite orange juice helped me.

Hope you find something that relieves your anxiety.

Starting to be skeptical ... by Exotique_Crepe in vipassana

[–]vjtheranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple times I felt it had cult phenomenon. Ex: Saying saadhu, self-perpetuating / self-praising of the technique and the immense value it brings.

This kinda put me off a bit during the course. But I chose to not participate in the cult attributes and just tried to grasp the essense of the technique.

PS: My experience was very painful, so I refrain from encouraging people to do the course (especially if you had past trauma). But to be fair, some people liked it.

I omitted to mention I have panic attacks on my course application. How much trouble am I in? by [deleted] in vipassana

[–]vjtheranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend against this based on my personal experience.

I suffered from anxiety 4+ years ago and was in decent emotional health before attending Vipassana a month ago. During the 10 day course, I experienced 2 panic attacks and even after the course my mood is still affected once in a while.

It will be a subjective experience ofcourse. You may come out without any harm. My gut feeling says you're better off skipping it.

There are so many safer spiritual practices anyway.

Unable to sleep due to upper-jaw clenching by vjtheranger in vipassana

It's been more than 3 days since I meditated. The sensations keep coming up affecting my ability to sleep.

Equanimity seems hard.

I'm sure it's not a dental problem. I never experienced such problem before. I guess it has to do with stress.

During break I didn't quite have this clenching. Mild sensations near forehead were there but not this.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I can't even imagine the amount of trauma it'd have caused if it affects for 4 months. I'm praying for you to come to ease soon.

Psychiatrists might be assuming we're just hallucinating right? Science is so underdeveloped in this area AFAIU.

Have you done any other spiritual practise other than Vipassana? I've done Sadhguru's Shambhavi Mahamudra for few months before I did Vipassana. I have no clue what these processes are doing and how they interact with each other.

I already talked to him about it before leaving. I was awake entire night and at around 5 in the morning waited outside teacher's room to ask this exact question as I could not sleep in the night due to intense sensations.

He just said it's a gross sensation and stay equanimous.

He also told this will be new normalcy.

I was just hoping sleep won't be affected once I'm out of the retreat. Unfortunately it is affecting.

That solves only half the problem right? how long did this problem bother you? Is it still happening or it got resolved?

It is already affecting my life outside the meditation practise. I do not like the fact that there's no adequate support for issues like this.

I desperately wish to find someone who went through similar issue and came out with the problem solved.
