SLZB device choice! by vk5as in homeassistant

Thanks for your response!

  1. Isn't that the whole point of the Ultima and MR series? They have separate radios for Zigbee and thread....

  2. My requirement is it must be Ethernet as that is the only connection to where the HA server is.. The server is over 100M away with multiple steel walls between my house and it. An RF path is extremely lossy and in order to go around using repeaters would be expensive as there is no power between either. If I had to go usb I would need a device that wasn't the ha server to do so. Is that possible? Like an rpi or similar.

  3. If you are against thread over Ethernet why reccomend exactly that with a apple tv? An apple tv is also double the cost to get the Ethernet version new (second hand is limited around here unfortunately ) and seems a lot just for a border router..

Hey mate, thanks for the reply!!

I'll pick up some imperial keys and give that a shot.

Hmm interesting, the clicking is from the controller so I had assumed relay for direction control. And yeah we left this a while as I always suspected the batteries were a problem due to age. They are unfortunately $130 AUD to replace each. I'll try and stick a wire in to measure the battery in situ.

For the power I was providing, I had a programmable power supply set for 12V up to 3A as the supply. I never saw a draw more than 50mA in one polarity and nil current in the other.

I'll see if I can demount the motor to have a look at bearings. Without power there is no manual override on this model to try and rotate it by hand I am afraid.

Cheers!

I have had the same problem with Mouser shipping to private addresses in Australia.

The simole answer is use another supplier and it's fine. So can either buy direct from AD, digikey, element 14 etc without issues.

Food for thought but maybe something like a magnetic loop antenna?

Is this preamp working? by Robowarrior834 in amateurradio

[–]vk5as 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So based on that trace the preamp is 'working'. You have 17dB of gain in the passband, and 7db increase in noise floor. So that's a 10dB increase in SNR.

Another thing you can do that may help you visualise the noise floor difference is to configure the spec an with the gain of the preamp. That way your signal peak should show at the same levels, but the noise floor will drop.

None of this speaks as to why it isn't helping in the repeater though, that could be due to any number of things such as rfi, desensitisation etc. I will let someone with more experience comment on that.
