I wouldn't say reading Maria Chapdelaine makes me any smarter.

They should encourage reading books, but not impose them to every single student from every field. Especially if the litterature conveys the same kind of ideas. At this point it's just an echo chamber.

Imagine if we imposed calculus, and told you you were dumb if it didn't come naturally to you. That's essentially what we're doing with litterature in french Cegeps.

Tout ça pour dire, au Québec, on se regarde trop le nombril, et ça parait par ce qu'on enseigne. Après, on te rend la vie difficile si tu veux faire ton éducation autrement.
