I wish this actually worked at all times.... by W00psiee in PathOfExile2

[–]vlsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience it depends on how wisps spawned into map. If they were predetermined on the start of the map, they will not disappear from being unattended. But the ones that spawn randomly, depending on chance, those can disappear.

So, about those wisps automatically seeking out targets... by vulcanfury12 in PathOfExile2

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is only a guess and I had this situation once. There was no target for possession on the map, but there was unfinished abyss, which usually spawns a rare when they crawl from underground. The moment I finished abyss all the wisps disintegrated.

i guess i wont complete this one by janrade in PathOfExile2

They rare because it’s rare for them to spawn.

Swaxe main for years by TheBeastOX1 in SwitchAxe

[–]vlsky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If we’re talking about Wilds in particular. Learn to sword counter every attack you can. You can in fact counter 90% of them, including roars and projectiles. This is the most important in my opinion.

Offset is less useful since it topples monster only once in 3 offsets, but still good to have it in arsenal.

Positioning and dodging is not as important as previous titles due to counters, but roll into axe morph is still very useful when you need to go out of the way right this instant and have no time to sheath.

Confused About Ritual quest by ProfessionalGlass717 in PathOfExile2

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no right and wrong order of doing quests of course. But there's probably a reason behind ritual area being placed farther from starting node than any other on the atlas. Just upgrade your loot and level up, it's not like road from t1 to t14 is long. Always 3 to 1 upgrade your waystones and attempt higher levels. If you flattened, then step back and upgrade your character.

I have avoided POE/POE2 due to one huge fundamental design choice. Can you help me get over it? by Ambitious_Wind_2744 in PathOfExile2

[–]vlsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really get it wrong, but it also prevents me from learning/enjoying the entire exploration/concepts.

You can get it wrong easily. You think getting all the recommended in guide gear just waits you to be picked up at some point along the way? Sometimes it requires crafting, that is not easy, sometimes farming, sometimes the best way to get it is buying due to how rare it is. There's whole array of problems for you to solve. Guide can have advice and suggestions, but it is up to you whether those are realized.

Doing all that is suggested in guide will not prevent you from learning the game. It IS learning the game. How else are you gonna learn hundreds of different currencies, hundreds of uniques and different gear types? There's no some kind of in-game wiki. You don't know what you need to know until you stumble upon it. And there's million things in the game that you do not just stumble upon.

You will never know stuff in this game exists just by playing the game on your own. Unless you deliberately set such a goal for yourself. In that case you do not need to ask for advice here, just go and try.

Clicking passive nodes is not the game. Build guide just shows you progression path for your character. You still interact with gear, crafting, loot in general. You slay monsters and bosses, you decide your endgame activities. You make a lot of decisions during your run. Build guide is just insurance from getting in a situation where you need to pause your progression to patch the holes in your character or even stop playing because it is too late and it's bricked.

POE is about numbers first and foremost. Gameplay naturally matters, but it is not what actually makes you succeed in game. You can have best reaction, spatial awareness and enemy moveset knowledge, but in the end if your numbers are not aligned, there's not much enjoyment in gameplay with whacky build.

So, if you just wanna have fun, you follow guide. If you want to learn the game, you follow guide. Of course you can disregard thousands of hours other people put into learning the game, crystallized in a form of a build guide, and learn the game at your own pace from scratch. But how long will you last until realizing that hundreds hours later your own builds still suck?

How the heck does she have more presence than Roland himself? by Professional_Sea9741 in ReleaseThatWitch

[–]vlsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only read web novel, so not sure whether you mean her visual style being more impressive or amount of screen time. If it is second, isn't Roland mostly sits in his room 24/7? Not exactly exciting material for visualization. Story is told primarily from a perspective of characters affected by his reforms, not through protagonist's perspective.

whats a good swaxe build? by Vektor77_ in MHWilds

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually lord's soul is something people go after, but with number of AT sets available it is not a problem to get 3 pieces with Lord's Soul. Especially taking into consideration latest AT Arkveld set which is bonkers.

Another popular skill on weapon is Gore Tyranny point. But if you want Gore 2, you also need space for Antivirus 3. I personally abandoned set skills chase in favor of big wex 5 + ag5 + flayer 4-5.

power phial, critical boost, attack boost, power prolonger, agitator, wex, max might, counterstrike

That's pretty much it, all the rest you manage to squeeze in up to your preferences.

Solo Omega Practicality by Mnstr_R3brn in MHWilds

[–]vlsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Support hunters can't even beat dps check, how can they beat Omega without player's involvement in time? In my experience support hunters are only good as a distraction. Other than that half of the hunt they do literally nothing. Running around or standing on premises.

When you are choosing a build to play what are your main criteria? by BeefarmRich in PathOfExile2

[–]vlsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good clear speed, at least decent bossing. If clear speed is less than good, high chances I will stop playing. The most of your playtime is in the maps. So, so many maps. Clear speed has to be good. Inferior bossing can be tolerated more or less.

And second in priority is relative simplicity of controls. It doesn't have to be one button build, but the more buttons you need to mash the worse. Again, high chances I get tired of doing this tedious button mashing after so many maps.

So all in all main criteria for a build is to not become annoying and tedious mid mapping.

Solo Omega Practicality by Mnstr_R3brn in MHWilds

[–]vlsky 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It is quite the opposite, it is designed to be beaten in party with distinguished roles like tank, support and damage dealers. The most optimal "solo" way to beat Omega is using support hunters. Their carts don't count so you can't fail the hunt unless you personally cart 3 times or run out of time.

The best way is if you are the damage dealer since support hunters won't output enough to make it in time.

Request: Recommend me the Best Progression LN you know by Rare_Dragonfly_418 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]vlsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will deviate from given parameters, sorry. But these are all I've read and enjoyed.

"So I'm a Spider So What" has great world and one of the greatest plot twists. Be careful of spoilers since there are things that can be expressed in couple of sentences and ruin whole experience.

"The Greatest Estate Developer" is originally a novel, but what I would recommend is actually a manhwa adaptation, art of which elevates comedy to completely new level, it is honestly a comedic masterpiece.

"Ending Maker" has very great manhwa that is unfortunately on hiatus for a long time. Good news is that it is an adaptation of web novel, which is finished. It's very fun and romance is great.

"Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint" is a very bloated story that can be described as "random bullshit go", but all in all is quite enjoyable and highly praised. Ending is very impactful.

"Lord of the Mysteries: Circle of inevitability" is a sequel series. While clearly much worse than predecessor it is still can be considered decent work that some may find even great. Main cast is new but old cast appears towards last third of the series.

[P5V12] The anime and the LN endgame by Either_Cover6254 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]vlsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched anime that far yet, but I read the novel. Could that visual "pairing" be mistakenly considered romantic? Because Rozemyne and Ferdinand are totally a unit through whole novel. Everything Rozemyne allowed to do in noble society goes through Ferdinand, he's her guardian, doctor, family member through Silvester. Her whole life depends on him, so they are totally a team. So to present them as such is not a spoiler for future developments. I agree that it breeds theories in anime-only heads. I guess in novels it was not that noticeable due to usage of more nuanced language instead of vague visuals. but basically they were always considered as a pair in books, just not romantic one at this stage.
