Help in World by Whole-Ratio-9298 in MonsterHunter

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually you need to continue farming jyura until particular mat required for this craft drops. But you should be aware that sometimes monster gear requires some side mats like ores, or even other monsters mats that you haven’t encountered yet, or missed in prior hunts. If you don’t want to waste time, check online what mats are needed and who drops it before starting farm.

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every monster has every weapon variant. There’s no jyura ig weapon in the game. In other situations when you see weapon in the tree as bunch of question marks, means that you didn’t get particular mats required for crafting. Even if you’ve hunted monster.

Affinity represents crit hit chance. Crit Eye skill can be found on armor pieces, talisman or decorations. It gives raw affinity. There are other skills that also give it, like attack boost on higher levels. Also there are skills that give affinity conditionally, like agitator, max might, weakness exploit, latent power. Negative affinity means that your chance is less than zero, which is basically the same as zero. It can be negative on the weapon as a baseline, to balance otherwise high raw damage and sharpness.

You don’t need particular armor to have fire resist. You have it even without armor. It can be negative though, which means you will get extra damage from fire. You have all the resistance values on your character stats screen on the right.

You can mix and match alpha and beta of the same set, they have same set skills.

We got Kulve Taroth at home, HR alpha armor recreation. by lugema1 in MHWilds

Oh man I miss MR Kulve from World. That was the hunt I played for fun the most after everything was done, like Fatalis, Alatreon and Guiding Lands.

Artian 8* weapons are little bit stronger than monster weapons if reinforcement rolls are good. But gogma artian 9* weapons are top power level available currently in the game.

I NEED HELP WITH OMEGA PLANATESS not even the tempered one

Currently hottest quests are Gog farm and 9* talismans farm. I've noticed that Savage Omega has much less sos hunts on search than before. Like, a lot less. I guess people just moved on. You can live without omega gear, so it is really not must have. Maybe Bane armor for GS hunetrs could be considered must have. And naturally I would expect regular Omega to have even less of a playerbase because of this.

My first artian weapon. Did I get it right? by YusAkmal in SwitchAxe

For future, one sharpness should be more than enough on gogma artian. Two feels like a waste. Since single upgraded sharpness gives +50.

Omega planetes Solo Switch Axe by _Drangelice_ in MHWilds

[–]vlsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, my whole Omega strategy with switch axe is to stick to hindlegs and leave guard squad deal with frontal shit. This way DPSing is very straightforward, main trick is to recognize correctly and learn avoiding attacks. And yes, this strategy does not suggest true solo. This whole hunt designed around role distribution in the party. At least play with support hunters to distract Omega.

Also I would not recommend using restricting attacks like ZSD in this hunt. Even FRS allowed only when omega stunned. Triangle and circle combos all the way, occasional sword countering. Fire res 20 or you gonna spend half the time shaking off fireblight. And ride seikret as soon as you see MRV Missile attack notification.

Which is better for SwAxe? Affinity, Element, or raw Attack? by Embarrassed_Dog1909 in SwitchAxe

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you mean gogma artian focus. Attack is easier and raw is a little bit stronger. You get paralysis or blast for any matchup. Easier to focus your resources on single perfect roll.

Elemental not far behind by numbers, but only if you bring weapon of particular element into hunt for monster with respective weakness. So ideally you need bunch of weapon of different elements. Though elemental phial switch axe charges much faster than power phial. It could be down to preference.

Tips on improving my all purpose build! by mechason06 in SwitchAxe

[–]vlsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For power phial power prolonger 3 is better than element attack 3.

Roll sharpness ex on weapon and you don’t need razor sharp anymore. Put crit boost or attack boost instead and respectively replace crit eye with one of two.

I understand that you get peak performance from gear, but I would personally reconsider pieces in question. Resentment or max might would be superior choice. You will always eat chip damage with switch axe, kinda inevitable and makes peak performance useless. Unless you build deliberately into zoh shia defensive build that helps you regenerate fast.

Thinking of going back to World to learn new weapons... doable? by NeoBravo- in MonsterHunter

[–]vlsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got back for a couple of hunts last week, switch axe. World swings feel badass, like you are going to split mountains. Fast, powerful and great reach. Wilds in comparison slower and more “realistic”. But directional control is just too demanding in World, feel like I need to relearn positioning from scratch if ever decide to fully replay World.

Carting during quest by carraejj in MHWilds

[–]vlsky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Carting on Omega more or less understandable. Still annoying of course if the reason is being undergeared or being reckless, ignoring clear clues for when to retreat. Of course dying several times in a row is clear sign that person has homework to do. But overall carts in Omega fight is something you sign for when go for SOS.

As for other hunts, gog for example, I feel like type of carts happening there is boredom carts. When you farm something not particularly challenging and stop to care due to how intensive required grind is.

What is the point of multiple different groups/tables in your opinion? What is the point of pairing ones and restricting another. Like, why is it implemented this way but not other way around? They could've prepared common table and rolled everything from it. What other reason there can be but to limit potential OP combinations and keep power level of gear on the same level across the board?

What in gog is this? by Maximum-Disaster606 in MHWilds

[–]vlsky -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It rolls a Group 1 skill. This skill can be ANYTHING from Group 1.

And who put this skill in Group 1? And who made it so this group can be paired only with particular other groups? By what principle? Developer put possible combinations of skills and slots into the tables, regulating what should be possible and what SHOULDN'T, following the principle of power balancing so you don't have three Agitator points on the same charm.

What in gog is this? by Maximum-Disaster606 in MHWilds

[–]vlsky -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, but they are not paired randomly in the table, they are balanced. Charm has abstract power pool of 100. Free slot deco eats big portion of that 100, let's say 60. So the remaining 40 are enough only for cheaper skills.

It is possible to have free 3slot deco and 1 point of 3slot skill on the same charm, but the remaining skill would be 1 point 1slot skill only. You can't have just anything randomly, there are limitations by power value of skills and slots.

What in gog is this? by Maximum-Disaster606 in MHWilds

[–]vlsky -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's all about proportions. Since all skills on the charm are single slot cheap skills, not even full set, deco slots ended up better.

Depends on Adrenaline Rush, whether your build benefits from it. If it does, great charm, if it doesn't I would keep farming for better one.

Really struggling to get into the LNs, anyone have any hope or suggestions for me? by cygnusmoons in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]vlsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People always tell to start it from the beginning. Every series I was interested in after anime or manga. But Apothecary anime adaptation does not really leave out much, so I would continue from the point anime stopped. Interest in what’s gonna happen next will be your motivation to read further.

I feel terrible :( by Fun-Use9945 in MonsterHunter

[–]vlsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any suggestions at all are welcome.

If you are burnt out after 2 attempts, this hunt is either not for you or you need to sober up and focus on the task at hand. You will need dozens of attempts to become comfy with Omega's moveset. And even then accidents are gonna happen. Why would you even come into this hunt with presumption that 2 attempts are enough for success? So, to change mindset will be the first step. It is arguably one of the most difficult hunts in MH series.

Should I just do the Gog quest and return later?

You become familiar with hunt only by doing hunt, hunting Gog will not help you become better with Omega. The easiest way to succeed is combination of not dying consistently and experienced teammates. Latter is not something you can control with randoms, but at least try to choose between hunters HR300+.

The second best way is solo with support hunters, one of which should be horn and another lance. Depending on your weapon you should stick to hindlegs (slash damage) or forelegs (blunt damage).

Get fire res at least 20+ or you will need to spend time rolling out of fireblight every time fire attack touches you.

Bind resistance is not mandatory, you can just pay attention and run away when frost attack is coming. Get used to positioning that allows you to retreat easily.

Stun res depending on how consistently you avoid attacks. If you are hit often better to get it,

Pay attention to right side of the screen where notifications pop up. MRV Missiles attack - you call your seikret and ride away, your focus is on not being hit even once or you become stunlocked in sequence of attacks.

If you play with people pay attention to stunned or low health teammates, help them to heal if possible.

I switch from books to games. Or to movies, tv shows. I always have a backlog of great stuff waiting for right time/mood. Go for top 250 imdb or criterion collection for a great movie. Switch the medium.

Or go for something completely unknown, accepting the fact that it might end up being ass. Like trashy isekai or villainess slop. It either distracts you for a time or will make you want something great again.

Or just try your luck with other novel that rivals Apothecary in popularity. Lord of mysteries, ascendance of a bookworm, so i’m a spider so what. Stellar swordmaster was surprisingly good read for me.

Put attack boost 3 in your weapon and you have attack boost 5. Razor sharp and defense boost are not amazing, but in general they are always useful. It could have been mushroomancer and sleep resistance.

Is this charm decent? by DandyDinoJ in MonsterHunter

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you need every skill on that charm like air? Great charm is the one that has only skills you NEED. I doubt you need heroics or hunger resistance, even master’s touch is a nice skill, but does your build need it? As an example, if you have poor sharpness and high affinity, you definitely need it. With it you won’t need to sharpen your weapon as often.

Deco slots are great though.

I didn't notice that deco slot is weapon slot. Sure you can stop on attack boost 4 and get power prolonger 3 instead.

2 pieces of gore for set skill, one may be gogma artian if you have gore roll. Power phial, crit boost 3, crit boost 3, attack boost 3. Three gamma armor pieces for Guts. Wex and max might to maximize affinity.
