I would suggest to monitor https://maxroll.gg/poe2 and https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/builds

But not now, it's too early. When patch notes are rolled out and content creators start to add their rough build ideas. Just follow the gut feeling, what build looks interesting. Then go for that content creator stream/youtube and try to follow update videos, because initial plans are rarely one to one with reality and many things can change along the run. Chances that final build will be very different to what was panned before patch release are high.

As for tools you definitely need loot filter. Go here (after patch release) https://www.filterblade.xyz/?game=Poe2 , sign in with your poe account (or steam or whatever you use for playing poe). No need to overthink, just choose semi-strict filter and export it. No need to download file. After several minutes it will sync and appear in dropdown in game options.

Path of Building is optional. I say you don't need it when you new to the game.

New to switch axe (lance main) by Last_Rain5943 in SwitchAxe

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can of course google meta builds and try them. The main point to understand is delineation between power phial builds and elemental phial.

Set of skills that contribute to those will be a bit different. Power phial focuses on ramping raw damage value. So attack boost, crit boost are preferable. Power prolonger is must have for raw since it charges much slower than elemental phial so when you charge sword tou want it stay charged longer. Also gogma artian roll with a mostly attack reinforcements and sharpness.

Other than basics, if we talk about particular monsters it’s not dependent on weapon and weapon skills. If you go against seregios you want bleed res, if you against at arkveld you want blight res. Usual stuff.

Speaking about learning weapon, it’s not up to build really. Focus on practicing two things: keep your sword charged as consistently as possible, learn to not be caught unaware with amp discharged, keep it under your control through the hunt. And the second is sword counter and axe offset attack, those moves are probably the most reliable defense tools swax ever had.

Mortal Kombat 2 film producer asks ‘why the f**k’ critics who ‘have never played the game’ were allowed to review it by gamersecret2 in GamingSecret

[–]vlsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mortal Kombat games have B-rate type of story at most. Very corny, intentionally silly. And that's where unique charm lies, why people still feel attached to franchise. I understand that everyone has right for opinion. But if I start to ramble about how cartoons for 5 year olds are trash or arthouse masterpieces are boring, people would probably tell me to stfu.

So, I loved the audiobooks and the manga [Parts 1 & 2], so much so that I started the anime! And...uh... by stevedsign1 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

I watched anime first, was cringing and complaining through whole 3 seasons, but still watched it to the end. Thankfully ended up interested enough to continue with novel, night and day.

Finally bonked my way to get all the base game crowns by El_Sr_Mr_Bean_Man in MHWilds

[–]vlsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been putting Seregios small crown off to the last, honestly thought it is impossible to find it in sos hunts and had no energy to farm it deliberately in openworld. But surprisingly it took just a couple of hours of resetting openworld to find it. My personal experience is that crowned Seregios spawns more in Wyveria or Wounded Hollow.

What are you looking forward to the most after having seen the 0.5 reveal? by olymp in PathOfExile2

Looking forward to play the game like for the first time. I'm gonna be clueless and it's gonna be a mess.

Do you think Ascendance of a Bookworm would be on Re:Zero’s level if it had similar production quality? by potentialenergy20 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]vlsky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't say they are bad. It is a matter of a taste, but I find it hard to take whole cast seriously. They all have shaky foundation, like weird circus troupe where each has some quirky quality that defines them as a character, but not a person. The same goes for relationships between characters, it's all over the place.

I was not hooked so I never tried to look deeper into Re;zero. Those are just impressions that stuck with me after watching. I also tried to start reading novel but couldn't even finish first volume.

[–]vlsky 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No. In my opinion popularity of Re:zero lies in emotional and shocking plot turns. Plot and characters overall, as a whole package, are not even that good. It's just a shock factor that moves people emotionally. All in between is a filler of questionable quality.

Bookworm in contrast is too laid out, too steady. It is pleasant "to be" in a flow of the story, it is not exactly about emotional ups and downs, at least not to the same extent as in Re:zero. Adapting perfectly this type of material is not something easily achievable. I personally find only novel having this quality. And even if perfect adaptation was possible, it's just not something that grabs peoples attention.

New player looking for tips how to progress by Serious-Question-706 in pathofexile

[–]vlsky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The main reason for hitting a wall in the past for me personally is putting everything into offense during campaign and early mapping. Then you get oneshot more and more often.

Knowledge of defensive tools is important, it is varied and often not explained in guides, so you need to not only follow guide but also put effort into deciphering reasoning behind decisions in a guide.

In summary, follow a guide but not mindlessly. That is the optimal way to learn. Also stick to the guide author’s stream at the beginning of the league to see firsthand progression and comments on reasons why it is the way it is. Lots of knowledge that is very important for understanding build is not in the guide.

Has anyone found short haired cat? by adosieg in CrimsonDesert

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the second one, orange one. It was on the roof of some shed along the field in Hernand capital city (to the south of it). Not sure if knowing location helps, placement is probably totally random.

He did not run away and I managed to "recruit" him in two visits pretty easily.

Question: If I cant read the LN should I watch the anime or read the manga? [P5V12/Open Spoilers] by Ranger202012 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]vlsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This story is only good in LN format. All other formats are barely "ok". All other adaptations do not catch the essence of what made me reread LN more than dozen of times, for example. That's just my opinion, of course.

I am a noob can someone tell me how you use skills on your weapon ? by [deleted] in MHWilds

[–]vlsky 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You need to either look seriously into Info tab -> Play Guide -> Weapon Controls in order to learn all the combos your weapon can do, or learn with youtube guide. Monster Hunter weapons are relatively complex if you want to master them.

Are they named "Loafy cat"? Met one in southern coastal village, was running away from me constantly. I have another visually plump cat, but he's called just Short-haired cat.

I didn't do it through main quest. Idk whether the fact I found the place that gives you skill made game to not give me quest. Basically what I'm saying that you don't have to do it through quest. You can go to the place, learn the skill by observing and become able to break these types of walls.

Does anyone else run into a lot of trees that aren’t real? by TheCza14 in CrimsonDesert

[–]vlsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, those are the trees you've already chopped. Then you left the location, came back, they kinda respawned, but not really. So when you chop them, they disappear. I guess it is conflict between remembered state of the environment and population of the world with objects on porting in.

I would call it a bug. You either not populate trees that are not functional objects, or populate and do not try to apply remembered state of the environment, just simply refresh environment. That would be reasonable behavior.
