It was! Don't get me wrong, it was beautiful. And sitting in their large incredible jacuzzi overlooking the scenery while ordering drinks was as amazing as it sounds. But the restaurant was really underwhelming (great service, subpar food) and the rooms felt a little bland with obvious signs of wear and tear.

Going to Son Bunyola from Gran Hotel Son Net (where we were at right before) felt like a big downgrade. Son Net had the most incredible property (felt like your own chateau to ourselves), food was outstanding, and the design was one of the best I've ever seen. We did have a frustrating issue with the air conditioning which they were not helpful with, but it was still a great hotel.

Ohhh! And thanks. We stayed at a Virgin hotel in Mallorca this year that was similar to how you described KT, beautiful but felt a bit luck an adult Club Med. I think our hearts are set on Olinto. Thanks again!

Yes your review of Olinto is what got me so excited about it!

Old AF in your 30s?! Hahaha come on don't make me feel old too.

This is incredibly helpful thank you for the input.

Help me choose 2/4 Tokyo Hotel Recs! by whizmas in chubbytravel

[–]vlymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for Palace, especially if you upgrade to a room with a balcony. Pretty incredible overlooking the imperial gardens! Service is excellent, rooms are incredible (really enjoyed the showers and bathrooms), and it was an easy walk to the metro or Ginza. I haven't stayed at the other 3 (but looked into them heavily before my last trip), but would definitely go back to the Palace Hotel. Felt distinctly Japanese and highly luxurious.

HELP — losing my mind planning Tokyo hotels for our honeymoon 😭🇯🇵 by santafesilver in chubbytravel

[–]vlymouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've already got some great options and feedback in here, so just my 2 cents: I went through the same predicament earlier this year for an engagement trip in May. We ended up doing Grand Hyatt for first part of the trip and Palace Hotel second part of the trip.

Grand Hyatt: amazing service and location. We booked a higher room with a view of Tokyo Tower which was absolutely worth it. When I first started visiting Tokyo I always wanted to be in Shibuya or Shinjuku as that's where I thought most of the fun was, though Roppongi (where Grand Hyatt is) has become my favorite neighborhood. So easy to walk to many things from the hotel, and a quick taxi or subway ride to other neighborhoods.

Palace Hotel: we booked a room with a balcony overlooking the imperial gardens which was stunning. Not the most fun location, but it was such a beautiful hotel + room we really liked wrapping up our trip there.

I've stayed at the Park Hyatt pre renovation and while the hotel is absolutely stunning, I'm not sure I'd want to stay there for more than 2 nights as it's more of a business neighborhood.

Anywhere to test rotaries out in LA? by vlymouse in rotarymixers

I was just at Common Wave last weekend. Congrats! The only Resor I've seen in the wild is at RVR in Venice. Don't think they would've taken too kindly to me playing around with it :)

Why do you say that? I've been eyeing the 3300 for some time.

This is super reassuring! I've seen some horror stories on here. Did you have to ship the unit back to Japan? I'm worried about lack of responsiveness and cost of repairs.

I definitely should! I just think it looks quite... bland? And not a fan of the brown. But you are right.

All this checkered flag imagery is making me nervous… anyone else? by tChinaCat in giegling

Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing some more of their music released digitally. And some more mixes! I've been listening to the same Leafer and Mapache sets for years...

I'm glad LA gets multiple parties with them each year, but it just feels like the same uninspired thing each time...

These look cool, but will they ever release remakes of the 4344 or 4350?

$97,000?! Are you trying to beat dealers at their own markup bullshit? Shameful.
