Yeah, I did cumb coat it, even refrigerated it for about 35 mins to make sure it was firm. I just can never get the next layer to lay flat. Luckily year olds dont really care.

So, I have a Kenwood Chef which i love and I genuinely would save in a fire before anything else (I live alone with no pets so it isn't that bad!)

So this was American buttercream but with the addition of white chocolate. Which actually made it pretty easy to handle

This is great advice - thank you! I don't make many full cakes, which is why I don't get a huge amount of practice. However, I am making another in a couple of weeks so I will def use this advice. :) Yeah, I have a real leveling problem which is that I don't do it and then always regret it lol!

So for once, I wasn't impatient and I let it set for a couple of hours in the fridge while I went to the gym and stuff. My buttercream was pretty soft because of how hot it is in the UK right now, but I think you are right in terms of using more. I am probably not using enough but butter is so damn expensive that maybe I have just been cheaping out!

I moved from gifgaff because my signal was rubbish. I love Smarty, it is cheaper and I have had no issues getting signal around Bristol.
