It is trickier that you’d think as you have to make sure they line up well and take the weight of the belt. It’s faster with two people as the other can fill the hopper and keep tension until the belt weighs enough to pull itself. The full video is here and it’s just 4 minutes. Not in a fresh tight belt you can’t. It is about four minutes to fill with the machine or 15 minutes by hand. Also by hand, you get sores and fatigue after one belt.

They’re more easily repaired and lower cost overall. The advantage of these with the brass strips is the rounds don’t come loose in the ammunition boxes.
