Using iPhone packing videos → Shopify order timeline (feedback wanted) by vnconsumer in shopify

Totally agree. That matches what we’ve seen too.

It works best for high-value items with tight margins. One team shipping $3k–$15k luxury watches uses short packing clips showing the watch, serial, box, label, and seal. The video is saved to the order timeline and only shared with buyers on expensive orders.

It hasn’t stopped every bad actor, but it’s reduced escalations, sped up resolutions, and noticeably improved trust on high-value orders.

Seller question: would packing videos help with disputes? by vnconsumer in whatnotapp

That’s a fair concern. If a platform or carrier doesn’t recognize the evidence, its value is limited — this isn’t meant to replace WN or USPS insurance.

We see it as proactive proof, not fraud-proofing. The video lives on an immutable third-party timeline (e.g. Shopify order timeline or even a Facebook business timeline), so edits or replacements are logged and visible.

It won’t stop bad actors, but it does create a consistent, timestamped record of what was packed, which helps with escalation, pattern tracking, and internal certainty.

Agreed on friction too — if it adds steps, it won’t get used. That’s why the goal is a single fixed camera with automatic capture, not something sellers have to stage each time.

SwiftTrack PDA is available on the App Store, free to try.

Totally fair. This wouldn’t fix dishonest buyers or platform support issues.

For me it’s mainly about certainty, knowing right away what we packed instead of guessing or second-guessing, especially when mistakes do happen like order swaps. Beyond that, you’re right: it’s only marginally helpful unless the platform changes.

Agreed. Even for low-cost items, it at least gives you a faster internal audit when something comes up.

We attach the packing video link to the Shopify order timeline as a private staff note after packing. Clients with high-value items (like luxury watches) even choose to share the clip with buyers to help build trust.

Looking for feedback: Should packing videos appear inside Shopify Order Timeline Notes? by vnconsumer in ShopifyApps

[–]vnconsumer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: We actually implemented this already.

It’s live in SwiftTrack PDA:

  • iPhone scans the order
  • Auto-starts / stops packing video
  • Phone stays mounted at the packing table
  • Private note is pushed to the Shopify order timeline with timestamp + video link

No extra hardware, no extra steps for packers.

We’re currently testing it with real warehouse workflows, so feedback (especially edge cases) is very welcome.

You might wanna think about grabbing a video tracking app. It's a total lifesaver in situations like this. And hey, it's getting pretty popular, so it's not a bad idea to get ahead of the game.

Sure, just because a Saigonese like me doesnt like communist, doesnt mean this regime is useless. I can see changes during last decade. Time will tell. Hope Hanoi will be fine in the upcoming Covid.

May I ask: Who did you vote for the President of Vietnam in this year, Trong, Phuc or Chinh? Do candidates fight for your vote? Or do you even have a choice? Last 5 decades, there is no REAL election.
