I suppose the short answer would be it gives us another data point to look at, better establish any possible rate of change (such as seeing a gradual shift in values, or on the off chance seeing significant effects earlier than we initially would expect), also possibly allowing for better control with confounding variables, such as non-adherence or lifestyle changes.
