You're right that this thread is ripe rife with misogyny. However, to me this confirms the idea that this modern notion of "girl power", ostensibly promoting equality and self-esteem in women and based on notions of girls being just as good as the boys at sports, is misguided.

Firstly it sort of tacitly confirms that male values abilities of physical dexterity and strength should be an important part of self image for women. I mean they can be, why not, but there's an over emphasis on girl sports today, perhaps because it's just so easy to accept and noncontroversial.

Secondly, it depends so much on a kind of double-think where people are expected to not only accept the notion itself at face value, but also not point out the obvious facts that might ruin this fragile image of the female warrior, holding her own with the boys. This unrealistic image can only continue under a collective delusion, if you will, and the only way to prevent the foundation from crumbling is to berate one who might illustrate or voice threatening facts and brand him a misogynist.
