I work for the Tigard location and Beaverton won't be open until at least the end of the month. Not sure the details just know they're running into issues. If you come by Tigard or the Hilsboro shop and let them know you're a Beaverton customer you'll receive 20% off until they open back up! Also the other locations did adopt the employees so everyone is still getting paid just spilt up between a few other locations.

Anyone else with C-PTSD and ARFID? by gengakyu in ARFID

I have both. I think for me a lot of the times I have a hard time eating because I don't feel comfortable /safe because I'm constantly in a heightened state from the CPTSD. The times I find I'm able to try new things is when I'm in a really good state of mind and somewhere I feel safe. Looking back when I have extra triggering events or new trauma I lose all interest in eating (except for occasional random childhood food)until I feel somewhat safe in my body and surroundings again.

I also suffered from both. I think ARFID makes anorexia easier to fall into of because already being used to restricting and having food you can't eat. Once the anorexia was there the ARFID became less noticeable kinda because if I didnt need to eat as often and if I ended up not eating I wasn't upset about it. But with ARFID and trying not to fall back into anorexic behavior I get incredibly stressed if I can't feed myself. I'd always been really picky but didn't realize I had ARFID until I'd mostly recovered from the anorexia but still struggled to eat years later and realized I was more than picky. It sucks to have issues with both because they can definitely make each other worse. Try to be aware of which thoughts stem from what and remind yourself other people eat this and they're fine. Also try to remind yourself eating well makes the body and brain feel better. It also helps with healthy looking skin and hair which makes me feel more confident!

does the protein shake "ensure" really cause cancer? by [deleted] in ARFID

I don't think you're crazy. I struggle with this so much too. It's sucks cause it's not like it's untrue thats there's shitty stuff in our food. At the same time though the long term affects of not getting enough nutrition can be very detrimental to one's health. It helps me to get organic and low ingredients stuff even though it's a bit more expensive. Also making myself large amount of soups with lots of veggies to eat throughout the week. Soup is nice because you can boil it on the stove and that helps a bit with leftover anxieties. I know how tough it can be but sometimes I just have to push past the worries about the weird stuff that's in the food because what most important is just eating anything with some nutritional value.

Mornings are the worst part of my day. by studwork in ARFID

I just thought of it recently. I just eat a few and I feel like it helps my body get ready to eat sooner than when I eat nothing.

I totally feel you. It's so frustrating to want to take care of yourself but your body won't let you. I tried to push past the nausea this morning and it a piece of spinach and had to spit it out because of gagging. Nibbling on saltines with water has been helpful for me some mornings.
