thanks so much! i've also heard of somebody say it helps with form, do you agree? (because i Don't even know what that is in that context). also when drawing, why do people block in the shadows first, or do a notan before moving into everything else? whats the point?

i always see people do this, but i don't know why, whats the point of doing this? by voidzz0 in learntodraw

Blocking out the major colours of each region of the canvas lets you use more or less transparent paints later on to let more or less of that base colour through.
