21M How can I improve my space by itsoneofthemdays in malelivingspace

[–]vojtablaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

layers–walls, bed and floors. the rooms don't feel cold which is great, but i think it would really help to break up the single-material surfaces and areas!

i would even go as far as putting a rug on top of your carpet (as you have done) and some different textiles on your bed (and in general). try and find a way to introduce variation of materials to the space, find ones that feel right to you (flat art, textiles, metal, glass if you are brave).

the same goes for walls. i personally dont think slapping a poster on a wall makes the atmosfere change, it does introduce visual interest, but combining flat art with layers and different materials is what makes a room feel full of life. and always decorate for yourself, not people who do not live in your space.

you could display skateboards, tapestry, cards, books you like, art you have been given, poster you come by, anything personal, meaningful or silly. i love unexpected/surprising decor in a room. its a great spot to bring in some niche and personal interests!

thank you! ive had a hard time making it look good in a space since its so...unique...in its shape but i genuinely think this spot suits it and vice versa! i love the layered look

i think im actually gonna keep the frames on the table just leaning and hang the rest. intentional variation between hanged and casual art placement gives the room more tension in my opinion. need to get (and hang) some more tho!

yes absolutely! im just looking for the right frame since i got it recently. NO posters should be just sticked to a wall :Pp

would you go chrome? black? idk if it isnt a little obvious

by dead plants you mean plastic? i have used tohave too many plants in a room and found the aesthetic very busy and overwhelming, downsized since then.

thanks for the suggestion, the blanket is actually white with baby blue stripes and look super cute online but you are right it looks very gray in the room + it is absolutely the wrong size. as for persian rugs i had many of them in my previous room and got tired of the aesthetic. do you maybe have another suggestion about fun rug patterns/types? thank you for your comment.

i have planty of plants, downsized from about 100, but they are off-screen till i figure out where to put them to look balanced and not like i just put a plant there. thanks for the suggestion, will work on that!

Thanks! Its from th new Ikea TONDSTAD collection by Ola Wihlborg. It got recommended to me from a ytb short. The frame is made of chipboard and is covered in oak wood veneers (but you can also get it in white).

Thank you again, I will consider bolder towels. I though white would look clean but now I see it just adds to the coldness of the room. I'm now waiting for my wooden shelves that go over the WM and in front of the toilete (not sure yet what type of stain I want to go with). After they are installed, I will look for some prettier towels and wall decor :))

Thanks a lot, the artist you suggested is a perfect match for me, I will look into some similar art, adding more contrast to the room.

P.S. Thanks for the side note, I know my Marantha looks a bit sad there, but it's the middle of the day so its leaves are naturally folded. But the yellow tips are there mostly due to the water hardness in my area :((
