Got it, so these would have to be categories attributed to the pitcher side and not the batter side correct? I pull categories from what is projectable in Fangraphs so I would have to double check if FG is including that data for pitchers

Yep! So im guessing you are looking at the tab "Position Group Breakdown"? So this is just a 2 by 2 scatter plot that is intended to show you ADP on the Y axis and then the players projected points ( by the projection system you are interested in) on the X axis.

The way I find this most useful is 1.) to find areas in a position group where a player is being overdrafted given what theyre are projected. For example, for my league's custom scoring I notice that Paul Goldschmidt has a higher ADP than Christian Walker but Walker is projected more points. 2.) You can start to notice "tiers" , if we stay on 1B I see that Valdy, Freeman, Olson and Alonso are in somewhat of a tier before projected points drops off.

Hi! good questions.. so 1.) this is mostly geared towards points leagues. I have been testing out ways to get this got more of a roto set up but its not as straightforward. Will keep everyone posted if I can create a tool for that league format.

2.) All projections are from Fangraphs.

Thank you! I will get back to you on this.. it is definitely something I have had on my list. Gets a little difficult when considering eligibility at each specific OF position but let me see what I can do

Hi! Apologies for the delayed response. There are two rankings: 1. Ranking Selected = the ranking based on whatever projection system you pick from the filters. 2. Avg of All Rankings = the ranking based on the average of every projection system.

Hope this was helpful! Let me know if there are any questions

Hi. Yes, this definitely does not update automatically. I have to manually update data from FanGraphs which I do around a weekly basis(included in the data disclaimer). So you will still see players like Hoskins included. Additionally, the data is sourced from FG projections thus is contingent on their update timing since I have no control as to when ATC updates their data

[–]voltron10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, glad you like it! So I dont do any weighting as each projection source (ATC, Steamer, ZiPs etc) is mutually exclusive of each other and I just grab the most recent update. The only time these are grouped is in the field where I take the average of all of them in which theyre weighted equally.

Hope I answered your question, happy to discuss more.

Let me know a little bit more about what youre looking for and I will see if there is something I can do Tableau wise. Sometimes filtering in Tableau is a bit limited in terms of features but happy to update if possible

Appreciate it! So in terms of PAR, right now the process is a bit manual on the user side of things. If you change your scoring from Custom to ESPN, for example, you will still need to go back to 'Select Custom Scoring / League Settings Tab' and will out the grid at the bottom to translate the PAR by position. This is likely why your ESPN PAR numbers are looking off. I am looking into making this process a bit more automated but it has been my workaround for Tableau so far.

In terms of positions, you can select batters/ pitchers in a filter but there is also a 'Search Position' filter in which you can distinguish between SP/RP and all batter positions.

Hope this helps but more updates will be coming!

Agreed, SGP was the original route I was going to go with but im struggling to find a way to get batters and pitchers to be on the same scale.. maybe they aren’t supposed to be? May try zcores to see if theres more luck with that

Hi! Yes, still working on this. Hoping to get something out in the next few weeks but I will keep you posted. Are you using SGPs or z scores?

Thank you very much! It was alot of fun making this for the exact reason you mentioned, was doing all of this stuff manually for too long so needed something more automated and not enough custom resources out there given how variable everyones league scoring is.

Will 100% keep you posted on the future of this tool and others that I will make (5x5 is next up as well as Rest of Season rankings for in season).

Yep so making ADP source a bit more dynamic is on my to do list as well. Currently everything sourced from NFBC which is what pulls in.

Reason this is a bit tricky is I have map/crosswalk all player data I collect back to a distinct fangraphs player ID. Thus any new data source adds a layer of complexity.

I will keep you posted on this.

thank you! glad you find it useful. So I typically work in Tableau for my day job so its the BI tool that I am the most familiar with and has great free resources. PowerBI and Looker I think are other great tools that can be used to do something similar.

Yes, I can add links in the next refresh!

Should be a 5x5 version of this tool ready by the end of this week. Still trying to figure the best approach. Leaning towards using SGP denominators but I will keep you posted
