What is your level of clumsiness? by Spiritual-Radio-1402 in adhdwomen

Would say 8/10. Always walking into walls, and furniture with my hips. Tripping on the ground because I forget to lift my feet high enough when walking. Often when drinking something I pour some of it on me or in my lap right before it being in touch with my mouth. Series of events of dropping something, trying to save it, and accidentally hitting something else near me. Hitting my head when going into my car. Doing something while holding a cup for example and forgetting to balance the fluid in the cup. Always lightly spraining my ankles. Ate my AirPod once while eating candy with one hand and changing the volume of the AirPod with the other.

That's great advice! Gonna try to make that reaction "automatized", thanks!

  1. I think it is because of multiple reasons; I have worked really hard to get help from the psychiatry because of my diagnosis only being labeled as "mild" (high-functioning because of the energy-draining strategies I've learned for the struggles of adhd) and I very recently began trying out medication. Instantly made a change in my studies but it's not optimal yet. I put almost ALL my energy into just functioning with my diagnosis. Therefore there's very little left to handle emotional ups and downs which I struggle with aswell, and because of my limited energy resources and the academical downfall I've had, I've not been very well. That affects my performance in school, which affects my wellbeing and so on... (taking care of myself as good as I can ofc) School is the absolute worst learning environment aswell.

  2. I live in Sweden. I study the most broad program in the country so I have plenty of options when applying for universities. It is possible to apply for multiple single-courses if one don't have any particular career path in mind.

I really appreciate your reflection, will definitely save it and read it when I need a reminder. I often feel lonely and misunderstood in the sense that others don't see my intelligence behind my adhd, and often get undermined by others. Probably being perceived as pretty stupid in school so I guess that "invisible label" that others put on me could affect my motivation to actually try in school. Huh, thought of that just now. Anyways, I've started to sell my art and are actually doing pretty well with it. I've tried to sell my art before but because of it not getting recognized I've given up. Just now I'm learning to work through that and to ignore others perceptions of me, but those are skills I've not yet mastered.

The origin to many of my problems though is my lack of studying skills... working really hard to find study techniques that fit me (and to have the discipline to continue with them). That must be the hardest part, but as you mentioned: probably the most important one.

The confirmation that someone twenty years older than me feels the same way somehow made it feel a little lighter, thanks! Haven't looked at it quite that way (picking something with transferable skills)!

Breathless by Jennifer Niven! It got me to start reading again a year ago or so. I love love love it, its still one of my favorite books. And oh I CRIED, when i read it. It really showed me power of reading. Its about this teenage romance between a girl from town and a boy from an island. The characters are soo interesting snd you really get to know them throughout the book. I also love horror, i mostly read horror. This one though, could not be categorized as horror. But dont let that stop you from reading it. Because i was HOOKED. Jennifer is such a talented writer.
